Record-breaker Richardson 'best British defenceman of his era'
The new Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) appearance record for a British player was turned into a special occasion by Cardiff Devils.
Their defenceman Mark Richardson broke the British record for the most appearances in the league, recognised with a presentation as they hosted Fife Flyers on Sunday at Vindico Arena. Richardson took his tally to 1,178 as Devils won 5-0.
Richardson broke the record of his former Devils and Great Britain team-mate Jonathan Phillips, who was on hand to make the presentation, describing the new record holder as "the best British defenceman of his generation".
