But Martinez did say: "I have said all along that goalkeeper is an area we need to look into.

"Tim has picked up an injury that wasn't expected and it is a long time to be without a goalkeeper. Once you lose one of your keepers you need to keep an eye on it.

"I'm not interested in bringing in someone for the sake of it or the short term. We need to bring someone in for the long term, so that's why we will look into that."

  6. Everton news conferencepublished at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2015

Everton's Roberto Martinez says the club will "embrace" every game and believes the title race will be decided on the last day of the season.

"The way this season pans out for us is that every game we're involved [in] we embrace it, it doesn't matter if it's in the league or Europe. Every game matters. In the league, we are catching up, but in the same way we've never had any sort of momentum.

"I just view City and Chelsea as the favourite for the race for the title, but the margins between those two teams are minimal. The margins are smaller than ever and it could go down to the last three points of the season."
