Dutch aiming to scrape throughpublished at 10:52

    Euro 2016 qualifying

Netherlandslost 1-0 at home to Iceland in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Thursday, leaving them with the prospect of securing the best third place finish spot to book their place in France.

Mathematically they can still top Group A, but boss Danny Blind admitted the runner-up place is their most likely route for progression, saying: "That's the option we have left."

Meanwhile, Iceland co-coach Heimir Hallgrimsson is (almost) raising a glass: "It would be very nice to have a beer now... but we need to keep our players' feet firmly on the ground."

    How much?!published at 09:53

Considering the kind of money that got thrown around in the last transfer window on some players, how much is Germany forward Thomas Muller worth?

    Thomas MullerImage source, Reuters

Top scorer in the 2010 World Cup, second top scorer in the 2014 edition in Brazil, and the scorer of five goals in three Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich this season, Muller has apparently attracted a bid from an unknown club this summer. We'll let Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge tell you the rest...

    Quote Message

I'm talking about figures which were very high indeed. If I were a bank manager then I would have had to accept it. But as a football club we allowed ourselves to close the door on it, and this door is remaining closed. I can promise that to everybody. But one thing is for certain, in view of the increased television money in England things are not going to get any easier for Bayern in future.

The punishment may be suspended after just two matches, but the club said: "For Zenit the ban of the club's manager is definitely a serious problem. The club will announce the decision on the case after discussing the situation with its head coach."

Villas-Boas has already reportedly asked the Russian club to release him from his contract at the end of the season but they refused.
