"We've got four games before we face Arsenal so I'm focused on those matches but it would be nice to be involved against Arsenal.

"Eddie spoke to me about the philosophy of the club, what he thinks I can improve on and what I do well.

Crystal Palace are in need of a striker and Alan Pardew has identified Juventus' Simone Zaza as his top target, according to ESPN.

Zaza, 24, only joined from Sassuolo in July 2015 but has found first-team opportunities limited at the Old Lady.

Juventus are reportedly reluctant to see him go, but Zaza may need more first-team football if he is to add to his seven Italy caps at Euro 2016.

Bournemouth v West Ham (Tues, 19:45 GMT)

    Benik Afobe

Benik Afobe never made a Premier League appearance at former club Arsenal and says the chance to do so at Bournemouth was too good an opportunity to turn down.

The striker joined Eddie Howe's side in a £10m from Wolves on Sunday.

"This is a massive chance - since I was about six I've dreamed about playing in the Premier League," says Afobe. "Eddie Howe has given me the opportunity and I'm looking forward to repaying him.

"There are always rumours but I let my dad, who's my agent, deal with all that and I just concentrated on doing my best for Wolves while waiting for a Premier League chance."

    Football

Another Ballon d'Or graphic for you.

    Ballon d'Or

Admittedly, European players had a massive advantage, as the award could only be won by European footballers between 1956 and 1994.

Nominations were extended to include Europe-based players in 1995, before it became the world player of the year in 2010.

  14. All change at Anfield?

    Football

Anyone get the feeling Jurgen KIopp might not be completely satisfied with the Liverpool squad he has inherited?

Well the rumour mill certainly suggests that, with the Liverpool Echo linking the Reds with moves for strikers Saido Berahino (West Brom) and Luciano Vietto (Atletico Madrid) as well as Juventus defender Martin Caceres.

Meanwhile, Bild has an interview with Borussia Dortmund and Klopp favourite Ilkay Gundogan, who says his "everything is still open" regarding his future.

The Shrimpers squandered a two-goal lead as they went down 4-2, their third straight defeat in League One.

"Harsh words have been spoken and will continue to be spoken for the next five or six days until we can put it right against Peterborough," he said.

  16. Not pitch perfect

    Football

    Cardiff

Cardiff City and Wales are discussing the possibility of re-laying the Cardiff City Stadium pitch before the end of the season.

The surface has deteriorated recently, prompting criticism from Cardiff's players and manager Russell Slade.

A new pitch could be laid in time for Wales' expected friendly against Northern Ireland in March.

"We'll see if there's a period we can maybe do something about it because it's not an easy surface," said Slade.

  18. Your thoughts on Man United...

    #bbcsportsday

Lee Schofield: Think LVG sends teams out not to score in the 1st half. It's like watching George Graham's Arsenal, without any goals.

David Roberts: I'm not happy with United. After huge investment they are still on the decline. I'm not happy that we have lost our creativity and pace.

James Whitson: LVG destroying United. Easiest Man U team to defend against I've ever seen. Not all about winning. About winning with style.

  19. Williamson set for further surgery

Britain's Victoria Williamson is set for surgery on her hip joint and lower spine following a serious crash at the Zesdaagse event in Rotterdam.

The 22-year-old, who won team sprint bronze with Becky James at the 2013 World Championships, collided with Elis Ligtlee during an omnium race.

She already had surgery on Sunday.

  20. Turning the spotlight

    Football

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport

"Louis van Gaal has developed a disarming way of turning the spotlight on his media inquisitors.

"When 'people', 'fans' or pundits' opinions are placed into questions, he points out it is a third-person opinion and demands to know what yours is.

"The two responses are to either point out that as the manager of Manchester United, his view of such matters is the only one that counts - or, as happened to twice at today's media briefing, just take out the offending word and ask the same question again.

"Bottom line is that LVG thinks United fans should be happy at being in tonight's FA Cup fourth round draw, live on BBC1."
