American shot-putter Adam Nelson was awarded a retrospective Olympic gold when the Ukrainian athlete that finished ahead of him at the 2004 Games was banned for doping. But he had to wait nine years to get his hands on the medal.
When he did receive it, there was no podium, no national anthem playing in the background and no crowd cheering. Instead, Nelson was handed his gold by a US Olympic official while sat at a dining table in the food court of Atlanta airport.
"I pulled my medal out and he pulled his medal out," recalled Nelson in an interview with the BBC World Service's Ade Adedoyin. "I jokingly said at least I got some fries with this."
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo are reporting Fernando Torres' agent saying that the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker has "eight offers on the table" for next season. The 31-year-old's Atletico Madrid contract expires in the summer.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has dismissed speculation that the Hammers may try and sign Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool as "paper talk".
Sturridge, 26, has scored 44 goals in 73 games for Liverpool but has managed only 21 appearances since August 2014 for the club after a succession of injuries.
"I am not talking about who we want - Daniel Sturridge is a big player and a big name - but that is only paper talk," said Bilic.
But when it was put to Bilic that Sturridge may become available, the West Ham boss replied: "What if? I would take Lionel Messi also, but it is only an 'if' so there is nothing in it."

By the sounds of it, Newcastle United are playing hard-ball as this month comes to an end.
After reports earlier today that they are refusing to increase any bid for Spurs winger Andros Townsend beyond £10m, the Daily Telegraph add that they are concerned that their interest is being used to flush out other Premier League bids for West Brom striker Saido Berahino.
Newcastle believe that it might take a bid of £24m to secure the 22-year-old - more than they want to pay.

Liverpool and Arsenal were reportedly considering activating Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams £15m release clause a week ago.
Too slow.
The 21-year-old - with 10 goals in 23 appearances this season - has today signed a contract extension with the Basque side, raising his release clause to £38m.
Bilbao may well accept less than that. But probably not as low as £15m.
