Here is a statement from the London Marathon organisers:

"With deep sadness, we confirm the death of a participant in the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon.

"David Seath, aged 31, from Cowdenbeath in Fife and a serving officer in the British Army, collapsed at the 21 mile mark and, although he received immediate medical treatment, he died later in hospital.

"His mother Libby Seath said: 'David has achieved more in 31 years than most people do in 70. He lived his life on the edge and to the full. He was running to raise money for Help the Heroes, a cause which was very important to him.'

"There's a huge media presence here at the Etihad Campus, where Manchester City will shortly be training for the final time ahead of Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first leg at home to Real Madrid.

"City have fitness concerns over Yaya Toure, who picked up a muscle problem late on in Saturday's win over Stoke, and Gael Clichy because of the back problem that forced him out of that match. Samir Nasri is also injured but he is not in City's Champions League squad anyway.

"I've counted around 30 camera crews from all over the world, as well as scores of photographers and written press. City have never previously contested a European Cup semi-final and they are up against 10-time champions Real, who will hope injuries to Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are not serious enough to keep them out.

"Ronaldo missed Saturday's trip Rayo Vallecano with a thigh strain and Benzema limped off with a hamstring problem, while Gareth Bale had only just returned - but the Wales star scored twice as Real came from two goals down to win 3-2.

"After City train, we'll hear from manager Manuel Pellegrini and captain Vincent Kompany in a news conference (12:45 BST), with Real holding training  and a news conference with boss Zinedine Zidane this evening."
