    Now Manchester United may well have made a £70m bid for Leicester defender Harry Maguire but according to the Daily Telegraph, external, they are being quoted a figure of around the £90m mark.

    That would make 26-year-old the most expensive defender of all time - if United were to sign the England centre-back this summer.

    It is the fourth time a new record peak audience for women's football has been recorded by the BBC during the groundbreaking tournament.

    Peak figures are based on those watching for five minutes or more.

    • 9 June: England 2-1 Scotland - 6.1 million
    • 23 June:England 3-0 Cameroon - 6.9 million
    • 27 June: England 3-0 Norway - 7.6 million
    • 2 July: England 1-2 United States - 11.7 million

    The body of Swiss footballer Florijana Ismaili has been found, days after vanishing following a swimming accident at Lake Como in Italy.

    The 24-year-old was declared missing on Saturday after jumping into the lake from a boat and failing to resurface.

    Italian rescue services said her body was found at a depth of 204 metres on Tuesday.

    "I am deeply saddened and shaken. It's hard to accept that Flori is gone," said Swiss women's boss Nils Nielsen.

    Ismaili, who made her international debut in 2014, was the captain of BSC Young Boys.

    Brazil forwards Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino both scored as they beat arch-rivals Argentina 2-0 in the Copa America semi-final.

    Jesus opened the scoring after 19 minutes when he sidefooted in a low cross from Firmino.

    Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi both struck the woodwork for Argentina, who have not beaten Brazil in a major competitive fixture since 2005.

    A Firmino tap-in secured the win to set up a final against Peru or Chile.

    Real Madrid are apparently eager to include Wales forward Gareth Bale, 29, in a potential deal for Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba, 26, according to the Mail., external

    That made it the most-watched television programme of 2019 so far.

    Chelsea goalkeeper Carly Telford, who replaced the injured Karen Bardsley for England on Tuesday evening called their semi-final defeat "devastating" and "heartbreaking".

    The 31-year-old says "It's not how we thought the journey would end", but that hopefully the feats of the Lionesses inspire youngsters to play football.

    "It was end-to-end but you want to be on the winning side no matter what. I hope there are a lot of young girls and boys picking up an England shirt.

    "That's an important message for us."
