  7. What about payments given to clubs depending on league position - what will they get?published at 13:38 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2020

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

If the Premier League has its way, they will get the payments they are supposed to get because the season will finish. Anything else is guesswork at this stage.

  8. 'Only fair that Liverpool be awarded champions'published at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2020

Lord Alan Sugar, a former chairman of Tottenham, has said Liverpool should be declared Premier League champions if the season is suspended.

Sugar also says the top four should be given the Champions League spots. That would also include Manchester City, Leicester and Chelsea - although Man City are currently appealing a ban excluding them from European football next season.

Who would be fifth, and therefore take City's place if they remain banned, would be hugely controversial.

Manchester United are currently fifth but are only two points ahead of seventh-placed Sheffield United, with the Blades having played one game less.

  10. Will lower leagues be suspended because of the risk of attracting larger crowds from other clubs?published at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2020

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

It is a fair point. I suspect it falls into the 'cross the bridge when it comes to it' category. I can't see why a local side that attracts 100 fans should be stopped from playing.

Junior matches will still go on also. There has to be a line drawn somewhere. It would be illogical to say 'no-one can play football'.

  11. 'You still have to complete the season'published at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2020

Football Focus pundits Tim Cahill and Dion Dublin say delaying and then completing the remainder of the football season is the best option after it was suspended due to the coronavirus.

  12. Bradford suspend trainingpublished at 13:04 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2020

League Two side Bradford City say they have suspended first-team training until Monday, 23 March as a precautionary measure after a member of their coaching staff was sent home to self-isolate, in line with government advice, having begun to display symptoms associated with Covid-19.

As a further precaution, following the continued outbreak of coronavirus, the rest of the Bantams' playing and coaching staff will now also self-isolate until a week on Monday.

  15. 'The right thing to do'published at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2020

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton and Hove Albion's chief executive Paul Barber told Football Focus about the decision to cancel all elite football until 3 April:

"It was the right thing to do and we have to prioritise people's health. As much as we all love football it wouldn't have been the right thing to do to continue playing.

"Our priority is to play out the remainder of the season but we have to be realistic in that we do not know where this virus is heading. We have to think of every eventuality and we have to think about our players and the fans.

"We also have the catering contracts and the tickets we have sold to think about, this is on such a large scale. We are now facing an unprecedented situation."

On helping out lower league clubs: "We produce money that flows to the lower levels already. At the moment, we are really focused on how we can contain the virus and then we can look at where we are.

"We have already got some teams in self isolation for 14 days, which means they will need more than a week to get back to match fitness so I think the 4 April return date is unlikely."

  18. Make Premier League season null and void - West Ham's Bradypublished at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2020

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady, whose relegation-threatened side are 16th in the Premier League and only out of the bottom three on goal difference, has called for the season to be made "null and void".

Football across the world has been ground to a halt due to the outbreak of coronavirus, with the Premier League and English Football League halted until at least 3 April.

Top-tier clubs are due to convene for an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss what happens next and Brady, whose club are in a relegation fight, wants the campaign to be scrapped.

"There is no dodging the possibility that all levels in the EFL as well as the Premier League will have to be cancelled and this season declared null and void because if the players can't play the games can't go ahead," she wrote in her column in The Sun.

"The Premier League hopes that an interlude of three weeks from now will enable it to restart but that may well be dreamland."
