Geraint Thomas says he wouldn't be "too keen" to hold the Tour de France behind closed doors with the event set to be postponed.
Speaking to the Today Programme's Rob Bonnet, 2018 winner Thomas said he would support a postponement to August.
"I think it'd be great if they get it to happen, if it goes ahead, postpone it until the end of August or something. I think it would be great.
"The Tour de France is the pinnacle of cycling. It's what everybody knows. And if you can go ahead safely, then that'd be great for everyone."
Asked if it could be held behind closed doors, he said: "I'm not too keen on that to be honest. I think the Tour is all about the fans and stuff as well, and the atmosphere on the road.
"But if it meant we could do it, then I'd obviously be, you would be keen to do it.
"But at the same time, even in the race, it's 180-odd cyclists racing, and then on the actual, when it comes to staff and organisation there's going to be close to 1,000 people there."
