The K League in South Korea will kick off on 8 May, more than two months after the original date of 29 February.

The decision was announced after a meeting between the league and clubs in Seoul.

According to the Yonhap news agency, all non-playing personnel at matches must wear masks and players on the pitch won’t be allowed to talk to each other.

The games will be played behind closed doors initially, although a return of fans hasn’t been ruled out later in the season.

The late start has meant a change to the number of fixtures in the season. The usual 38 matches has been reduced to 27. Each team will play home and away before the league is split for the last five games.

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who have won the last three league titles, will kick off the season at home to Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

  4. Serie A season end extended to 2 Augustpublished at 09:01 British Summer Time 24 April 2020

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has announced it will extend the end of the current Serie A season until 2 August.

Serie A has been suspended since 9 March because of the global coronavirus pandemic.

There are 12 full rounds and four outstanding fixtures still to play. Juventus are top, a point ahead of Lazio.

The IFF hopes to begin testing players for the virus at the start of May, in preparation for the season to resume and Serie A has insisted it is committed to finishing the season.

Italy has been one of the countries worst affected by coronavirus, with a number of players having become infected.
