  1. 'No real reason' not to finish seasonpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 7 May 2020

Forest Green chairman Dale Vince says he can see “no real reason" not to try to complete the current English Football League season.

It was reported on Wednesday that clubs in League One and Two would hold conference calls next week to vote on ending the season amid the coronavirus pandemic, although it is understood no decision on holding such a vote has yet been taken.

Vince believes continuing when it is ruled safe to do so would serve as "a useful dress rehearsal" for how next season could be carried out.

He wrote on Twitter: "We want the football season to be completed, and see no real reason not to – yes there are operational issues, but these will exist for the start of the next season, so it’s a useful dress rehearsal."

Heather Rabbatts, the former FA director, has been speaking to BBC Radio 4 on the effect of the pandemic on women’s sport.

"For women's sports, because many of them are at an earlier stage of evolution, than men's sport of course, they don't have necessarily the same amount of financial strength behind them, which is why I think it's really important that they are safeguarded.

"I think the more that those major governing bodies can instil confidence into women's sport and into the market. I'm sure that will be very positive and add further security."
