Philander Somerset contract cancelledpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 11 May 2020
Somerset have cancelled the contract of former South Africa seamer Vernon Philander by mutual agreement because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 34-year-old retired from international duty last winter and signed a Kolpak deal with Somerset, but with no cricket in England before at least 1 July, the decision has been made not to enlist his services this year.
"I would like to thank Vernon and his management team for their understanding of the current situation and we hope one day to see Vernon back wearing Somerset colours," Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry said.
