World record holder Renaud Lavillenie decides it's time to remove his tracksuit and put in a shift. He might as well, he's come all this way.

Lynsey Sharp is delighted with her latest success, silver in the women's 800m. "I have felt so good all week," she said. "I knew I was in PB shape so even though front-running is totally different for me, I thought I'd just go for it.

"I was in hospital on a drip for two weeks (earlier in the year) and at that point I didn't even know if I was going to have a season. So to go on and get a Scottish record, and silver at the Commonwealths and Europeans, is great."

Laura Weightman is rooming with Jess Judd at these Championships and she tells BBC One: "Watching her in tears after that race got to me, I don't like to see her upset. She is so incredibly talented and has a long future ahead of her. People forget she is just 19 and she will go on to bigger things in the future."

  9. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 16 August 2014

Jess Judd wipes away the tears after coming seventh in the women's 800m final. "I gave it everything, I couldn't have done any more - I even dipped at the line, even though I was seventh," she said.

"I am really disappointed now because I thought I was capable of a medal today. But to make two finals this year is a dream come true."

"Lynsey Sharp ran with conviction and you can't do much more than that. 31.2sec for Sharp in the last 200m. She gave it everything and there wasn't a single thing wrong with her performance.

"Silver at the Commonwealth Games and silver in the European Championships - she is truly a world class performer."

  12. Personal best for Sharppublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 16 August 2014

So, gold for Maryna Arzamasova of Belarus in a European leading time of 1:58.15 but it was a personal best 1:58.80 for Lynsey Sharp, who is now eighth in the UK all-time list.

Poland's Joanna Jozwik took bronze, while British teenager Jess Judd (2:01.65) was seventh.

"For Lynsey Sharp it was oh so close. She was brave. She took it on. She went hard and tried to have something in the home straight, but she just ran out of legs."

  14. Silver medalpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 16 August 2014

Lynsey Sharp takes charge of the pack and is through in 58.2 sec at the bell. It's between Sharp and Maryna Arzamasova... Sharp, grimacing, leading into the final bend. Can she hold on? Agony. The Scot is overtaken on the home straight by the lady from Belarus and must settle for silver. A gutsy run by the Commonwealth silver medallist.

Laura Weightman is all smiles in the BBC One studio 24 hours after her gutsy 1,500m bronze. She didn't feel quite as sunny this morning though. "I was so tired and in a lot of pain because it was a really tough race, but waking up and knowing what you've achieved makes it all worthwhile.

"I haven't got the out and out pace of some of other athletes so I have to go a bit sooner and try and take the sting out of a few of the other athletes legs. I had to use every bit of energy I had."

"It's a huge chance for Lynsey Sharp. She's been so dominant and come on as an athlete. She always used to sit and wait to see what she could on the home straight, but she's got so much confidence now. I think Lynsey's got too much for them. It could be a great night for Britain and Scotland."

  17. Women's 800m finalpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 16 August 2014

Lynsey Sharp and Jess Judd are both medal contenders for the 800m final, which will start in a minute or so. The athletes are being introduced to the crowd, some blow kisses to the cameras, others wave to the crowd. Jess Judd is bouncing on the track. Full of boundless nervous energy.

"It's a tough field for Jo Pavey in the 5000m. She's up against Sifan Hassan, who won the 1500m last night, but that could go in Jo's favour, as Hassan may have tired legs. Jo's got nothing to lose."

Other than his 200m gold, Adam Gemili says one of his favourite moments of the European Championships was Jo Pavey's thrilling 10,000m success. "The whole team sat around the telly watching it and it gave us all goose-bumps. She set the standard."

Pavey bids for a second gold later this afternoon when she competes in the 5000m final at 16:35 BST.
