Zola Budd set the British mile record eight years before Laura Muir was even born.

Her PB over the distance is only half a second outside the record so it's very much game on. If you were wondering, like I was, the mile is classified as 1,609.344 metres so only just over the 1500.

So we expected Dina Asher-Smith, Marie-Josee Ta Lou and Dafne Schippers to go for the win but they came fourth, fifth and seventh. The Americans brought it.

A contrast in reactions as Elena Vallortigara clears 2m for the first time and celebrates in a flood of tears. Mariya Lasitskene also clears it and shuffles off, not bothered one bit.

    Great contest!

    Men's 200m

Adam Gemili ran 20.30, while Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake clocked 20.21.

Mitchell-Blake: "I was sluggish for my first few steps. I am content, I know I have a lot more to go. My time - I'm better than that."

Gemili: "It's a good battle between us. Races, we are both not pleased. But that's why you run, to learn, to get better. I am in a lot better shape than that."

Mitchell-Blake was quick out of the blocks but I think he will be disappointed with that race. Akeem Bloomfield controlled this race from start to finish, power and technically sounds. We are seeing more of these 200m-400m combination sprinters.
