So why is 23-year-old American Christian Coleman under a bit of a cloud for this championships after he missed three anti-doping tests?

He was said to have not updated his 'wherabouts' information and later explained where he was.

6th Jun 2018: Flown by his sponsor Nike to Oregon for treatment.

6th Jan 2019: Training session was moved one hour earlier than normal.

26th Apr 2019: He accompanied his coach to the Drake Relays meeting in Iowa at late notice.

Coleman is the man to beat here though for sure and the only man in the field who dipped under 10 seconds in the semi-finals.

  5. Gold medals or chains?published at 20:12 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

Great Britain have interest in the final with Zharnel Hughes - a European champion no less.

The 24-year-old seems dead chilled. He's wearing a gold chain which let's be honest, always looks cool on a sprinter. It's like they're saying 'I'm so good that not even this bling smashing me in the face can stop me'.

As I write this, the camera pans to Justin Gatlin, who also wears a gold chain.

After Christian Coleman, it's wide open. He'll have to fall down not to win. To see the real race, stop watching him at 30m.

  10. Cool jumpings...published at 20:08 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

He seems happy. Part of me hopes he's chanting:

"Nuff people, external say they know they cant believe, Jamaica we have a bobsled, external team."

I'm singing it at least. Well done to Tajay Gayle, a long-jump global king and a shock winner.

We are eight minutes from the 100m final. Sanka, Derice, Jr and Yule Brenner haven't made it.

If you didn't see Cool Runnings, none of the above will make sense to you. We move on...

Emotional stuff as DeAnna Price takes gold!

“Who I am doing it for is to impact female athletes and let them know that you can be any shape and size and still be strong and beautiful,” she has said. “You get the best of both worlds being the athlete and the girl.”

This is probably the emptiest I've seen a stadium for a major 100m final. It remains quite a noisy atmosphere inside though.

    Thanks again to the Ethiopians.

  14. gold-medal

Gold medalpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

    Long-jump gold for Jamaica

Juan Miguel Echevarria of Cuba has his last jump. He must clear 8.69m to win. He doesn't. The roars are big, the anticipation palpable but he will have to settle for third.

That leaves American Jeff Henderson needing to hit the mark or the title goes to Jamaica... the run up, the take off, the sand, the white flag.... but it is not long enough.

Jamaica is now the home of long-jumping as Tajay Gayle takes the gold. I'm told he jumped the length of five Napoleons, for those of you who met the French Emperor. He also jumped six Danny DeVitos.
