  13. 'I'd love to run it one day, it's iconic'published at 13:47 British Summer Time 3 October 2021

    BBC One

Olympic silver medallist Laura Muir on BBC One:

There are a lot of very tired people out there, but what an amazing atmosphere. I'd love to run it one day, it's so iconic.

I don't know if I'd race it properly, I'd probably just pace myself, but I'd love to take part one day.

I ran about eight miles this morning, so I'm back into winter training already. It's a very busy schedule next year. I'd like to compete in the World Championships, Europeans and the Commonwealth Games.

London Marathon 2021: Student runs with Essex bone marrow donor 'who saved my life'

Without Vicky Lawrence, Elliott Brock might never have signed up for the London Marathon. Without Elliott, Vicky would not have even made it to the startline.

Thirteen years ago Elliott saved Vicky's life as his donated bone marrow helped save her from life-threatening aplastic anaemia.

Vicky just told BBC TV at the 18-mile point that she has been "a bit grumpy" with Elliott for the last 10km but he says she is "keeping me going".

  19. Cupcake record challengepublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 3 October 2021

For some, completing a marathon isn't enough.

Anna Bassil wants a world record too. She's hoping to become the fastest woman to run a marathon dressed as a sweet food in her homemade cupcake costume.

"I’d just turned 40, it was the 40th race and it was the 100th year of Save The Children, the charity I’m running for," she explained on BBC Radio 5 Live before the race.

"I thought a big celebration cake seemed like a good idea.

It’s made of hula hoops, chicken wire, paper mache and lots of varnish to try and keep it waterproof. No one likes a cake with a soggy bottom.

"I’m hoping it is going to stay in one piece. The record is four and a half hours. It’s going to be touch and go."

The London Marathon tracking system says Anna got through the 18.64 miles checkpoint in 2:51.56 and is on track to finish in 4:01.50 so hopefully the record is in the bag.
