So another devastating night's work from Anthony Joshua. It only took him 97 seconds for him to win the Commonwealth heavyweight title and to move to 14 wins from 14 fights, all coming inside three rounds.

Thank you for joining us and we will leave it there.

Don't forget to read our report of the fight and look out for our reports in the early hours as Britain's George Grovesis out in Las Vegas as he takes on WBC super-middleweight champion Badou Jack. Then Floyd Mayweather fights for maybe the last time in his career with the WBC and WBA welterweight titles on the line against Andre Berto.

    Bye for now.

  2. 'I'm looking to crush Joshua'published at 23:04

Dillian Whyte, who holds an amateur win over Anthony Joshua, insists he is not scared of fighting Joshua again when the pair meet on 12 December.

"If I had faced the opponents he had then I would be 16-0 with 16 knockouts," says Whyte.

"Cornish was 21-0 but had not fought anyone in the top 200. Beating Joshua is a big stepping stone for me and one I'm looking to crush under my boot."

  3. 'Respect to Cornish'published at 23:00

Anthony Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn confirms that Joshua will fight Dillian Whyte for the British and Commonwealth titles at the O2 in London on 12 December.

"That's 100% signed and that will be a great fight," says Hearn.

"Respect to Gary Cornish. He is 21-0 and he didn't have to take this fight but he was willing to put his unbeaten record on the line, and Dillian is prepared to do the same."

  4. 'A perfect connection'published at 22:55

Some quotes from the winner Anthony Joshua.

He says: "Gary had a solid jab so I had to make sure I didn't take any of those shots. He was throwing a large jab and I tried to slip it.

"I managed to land the right hand and it was a perfect connection and he went down."

  6. JOSHUA WINS VIA FIRST ROUND STOPPAGEpublished at 22:47 British Summer Time 12 September 2015

Anthony Joshua wins the Commonwealth heavyweight title. A short overhand right sent Cornish down, and what a shot it was. The Scot showed his courage and got up, but another huge right sends Cornish down again. This time it is over. He got up again but the legs were unsteady and Cornish is stopped after only one minute and 37 seconds.

Victor Loughlin is the referee tonight. "This is the moment you've all been waiting for," screams MC John McDonald.

As he announces Gary Cornish there are some boos from the home fans. But can the Inverness man rip up the script? A win today would catapult his career to a great level.

  12. And now it's Joshua's turnpublished at 22:37

A huge cheer comes up from a packed out O2 Arena as Anthony Joshua appears ready to come into the ring. Not only is Gary Cornish fighting one of the brightest prospects in world boxing, but also a very passionate home crowd.

"London are you ready for me," asks Joshua as he appears on a huge screen.

He then countdowns from 13, the number of wins in his professional career. Each number is shown along with a different knockout. If that's not intimidating I don't know what is.

Now it's time for the main event. MC John McDonald calls in Gary Cornish. The Scot is not too popular in London.

But what more does a Scottish fighter need to fire himself up than some quotes from Braveheart blaring out around the arena.

  14. 'I'm ready for Joshua'published at 22:34

Speaking of Dillian Whyte, he has been in action and done the business as he recorded a comfortable third-round stoppage win against 40-year-old American Brian Minto.

The fight only lasted 26 seconds of the third round after Minto had been knocked down in the closing stages of the first.

Whyte, who revealed he had injured his shoulder in sparring but would still be able to fight Joshua later in the year, said: "I will show up in December even if I've only got one arm and one leg.

"Anthony Joshua will be in a good fight tonight but I'm ready for him. I want to give the fans what they want."

  15. 'Whyte is irrelevant to me'published at 22:31

Things got a bit feisty on Thursday at the final news conference. But not between Anthony Joshua and Gary Cornish. They were perfectly civilised.

Instead, it was fellow heavyweight Dillian Whyte, who is scheduled to fight Joshua for the British title later this year, who was doing the talking.

He taunted Joshua at Thursday's final news conference and the pair had to be separated.

"Gary's the fighter I'm worried about right now," said Joshua. "But all of a sudden I'm hearing this little chipmunk in the background. It was Dillian, talking again, saying I'm fake but he is irrelevant to me."

  18. And the new...published at 22:23

At the O2 in London we have just seen John Wayne Hibbert gain revenge over Dave Ryan with a 10th-round stoppage, landing the Commonwealth light-welterweight title in the process.

Essex boxer Hibbert was beaten by Derby’s Ryan in May and outboxed for most of Saturday’s fight. But Ryan appeared to pull a muscle in his back in the 10th round and Hibbert took full advantage, landing with a big right hand before the referee stepped in. Hibbert was also outpointed by Ryan in 2013.

That means Joshua v Cornish is coming up shortly.
