    Paulie Malignaggi
Former welterweight world champion, speaking on BBC Radio 5 live

"It would be a major upset but I don’t know if anything can top Leicester’s story. Khan can certainly shock the world though and put himself up there for shock of the year.

"Khan is going to need a lot of intelligence behind his boxing, Khan is the better boxer with his speed but Canelo is no slouch."

    Alvarez v Khan

His trainer Virgil Hunter has admitted that Amir Khan might lack the nasty "killer instinct" that the best have.

Khan himself says that there are going to be times that he hits Canelo and he won't even feel it.

If he loses, but loses well, this might well be a moral victory for Khan.

Is the psychology of the Khan camp one that points towards a real, actual win though.

"Referee Kenny Bayless is already in the ring, we're gonna have some boxing sooner than I thought. Pernell Whitaker in the house..."

  8. 'Amir needs to be like a matador'published at 03:49 British Summer Time 8 May 2016

Lennox Lewis, speaking to BoxNation: "This is a good match-up - Khan has fast movement and fast hands. Canelo has a lot of power so he's going to try and stay away from him and outbox him.

"This is what makes a good fight, one man trying to force his will on another. You can't hit what you can't catch, so speed always wins over power. Amir wants to be the matador to Canelo's bull."

  10. 'Amir is about to join the greats'published at 03:43 British Summer Time 8 May 2016

Britain's former heavyweight world champion David Haye, speaking on Twitter: "This is a fight where I believe Amir Khan is going to join the greats. He's going to go up two weight divisions and beat the linear champion. He's going to shock the world - Amir will win on points, 100%."

They might not look over the moon about it, but boxing royalty is in Vegas for this one - Britain's former heavyweight champion of the world, Lennox Lewis, and one of the all-time greats, Roberto Duran.

The best pre-fight quotes have come from evergreen American Bernard Hopkins though.

"Khan's volume of punches reminds me of Joe Calzaghe. He's a guy who swarms you with punches so that by the time you get your bearings, the fight's over," he said

"You're not going to die, you didn't get hurt, but you've got so many bee stings you don't know where to scratch. You just know you've got to get the hell out of there."

Sounds promising. What's your prediction Bernard?

"Canelo wins on Saturday by knockout, in the ninth or 10th round."

    Thanks. For. That.

There are 3,000 Khan fans expected in the Arena for tonight's fight.

Not bad. But not enough to drown out the 17,000 Mexican voices that they are going to be competing with.

This weekend - the closest to the Cinco de Mayo - is the biggest knees-up in the Mexican calendar.

They are expecting a commanding display from their man ahead of a slated super fight against Gennady Golovkin.

The Kazak is on his way to ringside to see how his rivals stack up.

Both fighters are in the building.

Saul Alvarez looked cool and collected as he made the way to his dressing room with an entourage in matching get-ups.

Amir Khan looks a little twitchier, throwing a few shadow punches and chewing his lip.

This is the first even boxing match at the T-Mobile Arena which only opened last month.

You can see The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers getting "ceremonial crystal keys" to the stadium before an opening concert in the image above. He looks absolutely delighted.

  20. 'Amir needs to dictate the pace'published at 03:08 British Summer Time 8 May 2016

    Paulie Malignaggi
Former welterweight world champion, speaking on BBC Radio 5 live

"If Amir is able to dictate the pace, it means he's making Canelo respect his speed. Canelo is not exactly slow himself but Amir is quicker to the trigger - like a gunman in the old mid-West."
