  1. What a way to finishpublished at 00:10 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

The last big fight of 2021 and what a way to sign off!

We'll be back in 2022, and you suspect so will Derek Chisora.

I'll leave you with Michael Emons' big fight report and see you another time!

  2. 'Chisora is a force of nature'published at 00:05 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

Parker and his team will be massively encouraged with that performance. Maybe it was the atmosphere five months ago, but he showed huge improvements and is right back in the mix at world title level. For Chisora, he is a true force of nature. A complete individual and wonderful entertainer. But, as Tony Bellew said on the TV broadcast, those kind of fights leave a big mark on a fighter beyond the ring. He will not want to retire but he turns 38 this month and just had a war in his 44th pro fight. It might be time to walk away.

  3. Will Chisora retire?published at 00:02 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

    Carl Frampton
Former world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

Ultimately the decision will be Derek's and he doesn't seem to be the character who will want to stop fighting. I think he will fight for as long as he can.

It was an amazing performance by Joseph Parker but still a very good performance by Derek Chisora.

He can still beat some of the top fighters - not the really top guys like the top three or four but the guys in the top 10 with a performance like that he can probably still beat them.

I'd love to see him retire because he doesn't need to do it anymore, but I don't think he will.

  5. 'Parker back on the world stage'published at 23:53 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021

Promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Derek Chisora, you can't have too many fights like that, that is the reality but he got out of the ring and said to me: "'Did you enjoy that?' It is what he does, he is a prize fighter and loves to entertain the crowd.

"I cannot believe that went 12 rounds. After getting hurt in the third, down in the six or seventh and ninth, but he kept on coming.

"If Parker was not fit and didn't box as well as he did he would have lost that fight in the home stretch.

"Chisora is a nightmare. If you are not a top heavyweight you will get beat by Chisora.

"He is a handful. A brilliant heavyweight fighter.

"He is a tremendous credit to the sport. A big win for Joseph Parker that puts him back on the world stage."

  6. 'Zero quit in Chisora'published at 23:48 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021

Promoter Eddie Hearn on DAZN: “Derek Chisora is not human. How that went 12 rounds I’ll never know. There was zero quit in him. Both those guys deserve a huge amount of credit.”

“It’s a great performance. Chisora is a prize fighter, I’m sure he’ll be back. Parker has positioned himself. The career’s alive and kicking for Joseph Parker.”

  7. 'He brings war from the first until the 12th'published at 23:45 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021

Joseph Parker, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "What a fight. Derek always comes for war. He brings war from the first until the 12th.

"I hurt him and then rushed him, got too excited. He is very experienced. It shows I need to keep practicing these things.

"Those were championship rounds and we knew we had the fitness to go these rounds but we wanted to show a bit more than the first one."

Would you like to see Chisora walk away? "Personally I'd like to see him walk away. He has given boxing everything he has. he is a credit to the sport. The atmosphere is amazing when he fights. I'd love to see him walk away but that's his decision."

  8. 'What a Christmas present'published at 23:41 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021

Joseph Parker, speaking to DAZN about how he found the fight: "I don’t know. He was one tough guy. The first fight it felt like a continuation. He never stopped coming until the end. We practised and practised that uppercut. What a Christmas present.

Felt stronger? “I felt a lot stronger. It was important to start strong and not be negative from the beginning. You can see there are improvements to made.

Disappointed to not get a finish? “Just rushed it. I didn’t sit down on my punches. I got too excited. There’s a lot of practise to be done after this. Ready for the next time.”

What do you think of Chisora? “I’m telling you, he’s a credit to the sport of boxing. The crowd went mental when he walked out. They just want to support him.”

  9. 'Fantastic performance'published at 23:35 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021

    Carl Frampton
Former world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

Joseph Parker - not normally exciting fights, not normally aggressive. He was all those things. People will want to pay to watch Joseph Parker again. That was a fantastic performance and I think he won it pretty comfortably.

I am quite astonished that went 12 rounds. Chisora has shown grit throughout his career but his heart never ceases to amaze me. Parker a deserved winner in my opinion. I had Parker winning nine of the 12 rounds. He scored three knockdowns and fired off uppercut after uppercut. I can't see 114-112, that is a difficult scorecard to understand...

  11. Parker wins by unanimous points decisionpublished at 23:30 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021
    Breaking

Joseph Parker wins by unanimous decision (115-110, 115-111, 114-112).

But neither fighter is a loser here. Incredible resilience from Derek Chisora to take some of those huge hits by Parker.

That surpassed my expectations. Absolutely brutal from start to finish. They both stayed in there, dug in. Parker tried his best to get Derek out of there in the last round.

Unrecognisable to what we saw in May. What a different fight. We were promised something special and they delivered something special. Parker pulled out some class. When we thought he was finished he came back.

  14. Round 12published at 23:26 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021

Parker just has to get through this round but what a battler Chisora has been. By all laws of physics his energy should have left him a long, long time ago but he's still going in the final round.

Parker slams in a couple of strong shots, Chisora shakes his head as he once again finds a way to survive them and then responds with a couple of hits to the torso.

A jab and right hand from Parker gets through from range, Chisora gets in close and lands one more hit before the bell.

The crowd are on their feet. What a fight. Two absolute warriors.

We should just be quiet for 30 seconds and listen to the Rocky music. I thought it was in my head but they’re playing it in the arena. I thought Parker took a rest that round but he might have nicked it. He boxed that round.

  16. Round 11published at 23:23 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021

A good start to the 11th by Chisora as a couple of early hits get through.

Chisora is using the jab well in this round but Parker continues to look dangerous when he spies an opportunity as a good overhand right gets through.

Both drive some punches to the body in the closing stages of the round and we are going into a 12th round we never looked likely reaching at the halfway point of this fight.

Chisora looks the fresher of two exhausted men now. The body shots have chipped away at Parker and he's trying to tie Chisora up and get a rest at every opportunity. Parker has to be well up on the cards, all he has to do is avoid a late knockout.

How has Derek come back and won that round there after so many uppercuts? The body shots have clearly taken their toll on Parker. I gave that round to Chisora. I haven’t given him many.

  20. Round 10published at 23:19 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2021

How have we got into the 10th round?

Chisora continues to take Parker's shots well but he's also landing few as well, using the left jab well.

The two get in close, some tired swings from both in the closing stages of the round but a good round from Chisora.

    You can't write him off!
