Kell Brook sensationally beat Amir Khan in the sixth round, with the referee stopping the contest, to settle one of the most-bitter and long-running feuds in British boxing.

A packed out Manchester Arena witnessed a demolition job from Sheffield's Brook, 35, who showcased timing and power to win in emphatic fashion.

A fight which had been in the making for over 17 years - with the two former world champions having trading words but never punches - ended with Khan and Brook embracing.

It is 35-year-old Khan's sixth defeat in 40 fights since turning professional in 2005 and the loss may well mark the end of a rollercoaster career for the Bolton fighter.

Brook now has 40 wins, with three defeats. His latest victory may well be the most satisfying of his 18-year career.

  3. 'All of the lights'published at 00:08 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2022

Another great night of boxing in a great venue in Manchester.

Will Brook fight again? This is a pretty special way to bow out if this is indeed his swansong.

  4. 'The love of the sport is not there anymore'published at 00:04 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2022

Amir Khan, speaking to Sky Sports Box Office, said: "I'm very upset. I did all the training we had to do, I just could not get it going and feeling a little bit short.

"Kell Brook did everything he needed to, put in a great performance and was the best man tonight. I was catching him with a few good shots but it's my own fault. I had a great training camp, I just could not get going.

"Kell was on his 'A' game and a lot of respect goes out to him and to the fans - 90% in there for me. I want to apologise to them, it didn't go my way.

"Forty fights is a lot of fights, winning two world titles, going to America, I need to sit down with my family but I think it's more towards the end of my career.

"That love of the sport is not there anymore. When I was in the ring [before] I had that excitement but I didn't have it. I felt quite flat and maybe that's a sign I should be calling it a day."

  5. Postpublished at 00:00 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2022

This was Amir Khan's 40th fight of his professional career. He has fought around the world and won two world titles.

Judging by his after-fight quotes, an amazing career may well be coming to its end...

  6. 'I can live at peace'published at 23:55 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

Some more from Kell Brook, on whether he is content with his career.

"I can live at peace with Amir Khan on my record," says Brook.

"My mojo is back and I love this game. We will listen to loved ones and see but I'm back, baby."

  7. 'We have history' - Eubank open to Brook fightpublished at 23:50 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

Will Kell Brook fight Chris Eubank Jr?

Eubank, speaking on Sky Sports Box Office, says: "He has proved he has the spice, I want to see how much spice he has got with me.

"We have history. He is the reason I didn't fight [Gennady] Golovkin and I've never forgiven him for that - that was my fight.

"Now I want to see if Kell can do that with me. We can make that fight happen and he has already said he wants to fight me. I think I can beat him and he thinks I can beat him."

  8. 'They tried to get into my head'published at 23:47 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

More quotes from Kell Brook, who had to change his gloves in the ring before the fight. He tells Sky Sports Box Office: "I've done everything I had to.

"I put on different gloves in the ring as he said he was not happy with my gloves. They said 'you will not get paid if you do not put on these gloves'. I did everything I had to do and still took him apart.

"They tried to get into my head by pushing and poking me, but I took care of business as I said I would do. He even had someone knock on my hotel door at three or four in the morning to disrupt my sleep."

On the rivalry with Khan, Brook added: "It's hard to like someone when they are just dissing you.

"I can walk away [from boxing] but I could fight [Chris] Eubank [Jr], I don't like Eubank. If the fight is right I will fight - I'm a prizefighter."

That was Kell Brook rolling back the years while Amir Khan his age weighing heavily on him.

Khan's speed and power deserted him, while Brook was able to plant his feet at will and swing from the hips.

Brook is elated, rightly, while Khan is devastated backstage. Brook hinted he might be finished with boxing and Khan said the same soon after. Neither would commit to retirement, but after such a thrilling fight, it is not a bad way to bow out.

  10. 'I'm King of the North'published at 23:36 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

Kell Brook, who had a message saying 'I told ya' written on to his hand wraps, tells Sky Sports Box Office: "I always knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of time before I got him out of there.

"What a feeling. These are the fights I wanted to be involved in when I walked into a gym. I'm King of the North and took out Amir Khan, just as I said I would.

"I put a lot of pressure on myself, I told everyone, and I did believe it. I always knew from 18 that I was a better boxer than him and tonight the fans got to see a mega fight and I dealt with it."

Brook goes for not one, but two crazy haymakers which would have put Khan in the front row if either had landed. Neither do, much to Khan's relief.

Khan's legs are wobbling when Brook, relentlessly, attacks. The Sheffield man is the one winning this so far.
