  1. A disappointing night for Hannah Rankinpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

It was close, no doubt about it. Agonisingly close for Hannah Rankin.

Unfortunately for Scotland's Rankin though, she was unable to make Scottish boxing history this evening as Slovenian's Ema Kozin claims both titles.

There was a Scottish win in the previous fight however as Nathaniel Collins retained his British and Commonwealth featherweight championship by a majority decision.

That's all from us here this evening too. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday night and weekend.

    Bye for now.

  2. 'It could go either way'published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Richie Woodhall
Former boxing world champion on TNT Sports

I think Kozin just nicks it probably, I think Rankin struggled a bit.

But it's either way, if Rankin's hand was raised there no one would complain.

  3. 'It was so close'published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Carl Frampton
Former world champion on TNT Sports

It was really hard to call, it was right down the middle.

However, on the judge's scorecards there, 98-92 was way off the mark, Kozin never won it by that far.

    98-92 - Kozin

    96-94 - Kozin

  5. Round 10published at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

The final round of a fight years in the making. It's been an absorbing encounter that's for sure.

It's going to be ever so close on the cards you'd imagine.

Neither fighter could get it wrapped up in the tenth. It was another closely contested two minutes but no heavy hits landed.

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Rankin may be worried about a counter coming back from the southpaw, but she is yet to sit down on any of her punches.

I don't speak Slovenian, but Kozin's corner are very happy with proceedings so far. They clearly think she is winning this fight.

  7. Round 9published at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

In between rounds seven and eight Rankin receives words to the effect of 'go harder' and 'give me Golovkin' from her corner. Nothing but more shots to the body were asked for.

Rankin delivered. Kozin snapped back with a few higher up on the Scot though.

The Slovenian had the best of that round for about one minute and thirty seconds.

She appears the have changed her plan too, coming in a lot faster and punching with much more speed.

  8. Round 8published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Another round, another two minutes of body blows.

Rankin has stepped up the intensity again though. She's landing good combinations to the body but Kozin is still sneaking a few on the body as well.

It must be extremely tight on the cards.

  9. Round 7published at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

A few TV pundits are split on who is shading it so far. Either way, whoever is leading is only ahead by a hair's breadth.

It's either women's fight to win.

The seventh plays out as the previous few have but Rankin is showing signs of adapting to Kozin's dancing feet and is anticipating far better.

Time to add some blows back with it now.

  10. Round 6published at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Kozin's style is certainly unique. To call it ungainly isn't too much of a stretch in all honesty.

It's working, though. Don't forget this is Rankin's first proper in-fight experience against a southpaw.

Similarly, don't underestimate how effective Rankin is being with her bodywork when both fighters get close together.

Another close, close round. Not too many big hits landed.

  11. Round 5published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Kozin got Rankin back on the ropes early in the fifth with a reaching left-hander almost landing on the Scot's chin.

Some start footwork keeps Rankin moving out of reach and out of sight at times.

All well and good avoiding them but Rankin may want to start thinking about hitting back.

Evenly matched so far. Neither woman seems fearful of each other's power shots.

Rankin looking for the uppercut on occasion and landed a good one in round two.

Scot would do well to step it up and command the exchanges more. Doesn't want to leave anything to interpretation.

  13. Round 4published at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Decent work at close range from Rankin as they look ready to get tangled up but she catches Kozin with a sharp one on the way back up.

Kozin remains the one pressing issue but the Scot replies with a strong body blow.

Those intense, close little hits from Rankin could be key to running Kozin down.

  14. Round 3published at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Rankin shows her steeliness in the ring there to look utterly unphased for Kozin's hook.

A good 30-45 seconds go in that round without her throwing a jab though despite Kozin staying within range.

A cagey but by no means dull affair so far.

  15. Round 2published at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Kozin's got a great reach on her, she winds it up for what seems an age but is always able to get it flying.

Both fighters are getting pretty close with the Slovenian landing a few there.

Rankin defending well but not doing too much in the way of retaliating.

  16. Round 1published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

No time for feeling each other out here. Both fighters get right down to business.

Rankin has started fast and is already hitting Kozin with a few early flurries with her jabs.

Evenly matched so far it's fair to say with Kozin landing a few early left-handers.

  17. The bell soundspublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

The referee gives them some pre-fight words and sends them to their corners.

Kozin is still wearing that menacing stare.

    We're off!

  18. Thunderstruckpublished at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Rankin now walks in, with AC/DC's Thunderstruck blaring through the sound system as she heads for the ring.

    Time to make history.

  19. Ringwalk timepublished at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Ema Kozin enters the arena to some heavy metal music and she's sporting the most menacing of stares.

"A face of absolute concentration and anger," says Steve Bunce on TNT.

  20. Southpaw oppositionpublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Hannah Rankin v Ema Kozin

Another interesting wrinkle here for Rankin is that she'll face a southpaw for the first time in her career.

She'll have focussed on that plenty in training but it's still a daunting prospect stepping into the ring against a lefty for the first time.
