One man outside the Armagh camp who has no doubts over McGeeney's importance to this All-Ireland win is former Donegal captain Michael Murphy.
The All-Ireland winner hailed the "incredible managerial performance" from the on the BBC's GAA Social podcast.
"Probably because of the persona of Kieran McGeeney and the warrior he was as a player, people overlook his incredible managerial performance this year and over the last number of years," Murphy said.

What has always been clear, has been how much the players think of the manager they call 'Geezer'.
Stefan Campbell, who has bought into his super-sub role and assisted McKay's goal yesterday, spoke about the belief McGeeney has instilled in the group despite so many heart-breaking losses in recent championship seasons.
"Geezer's been telling us for 10 years we'd climb the steps one day. Especially since 2019 when we got the solid group back, the deeper panel started to come. There was nobody leaving the group."

One man likely to draw some of the biggest cheers this evening will be Armagh's manager Kieran McGeeney.
Having been the one to lift Sam as captain back in 2002, he got his hands on the famous trophy again yesterday at the end of a season that started with a county vote on his future.

"It’s like wearing a pair of earmuffs for a change. It's quietening out all the noise.

As he dreamed of lifting Sam the next day on Saturday night, even Aaron McKay likely didn't imagine he'd be the one providing the game winning goal.
He revealed afterwards that his one championship point had been the subject of amusement among team-mates
Indeed, as he celebrated an All-Ireland victory forged in no small part by his goal in the 1-11 to 0-14 final win, McKay joked that substitute Stefan Campbell's assist was more likely to have been a wayward attempt at a point.
"He wasn't passing," McKay laughed. "Soupy never passes, especially to me."
