  1. Storm Darragh or Captain Morgan?published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

Kilcoo v Errigal Ciaran, Athletic Grounds 15:30 GMT

Darragh Canavan has already led Errigal Ciaran to the O'Neill Cup with a hard-fought win over Trillick in the Tyrone SFC final.

Can he captain them to an Ulster today, 24 hours after the storm which wiped out Saturday's Irish Premiership programme has passed over?

Or will it be the Kilcoo joint captains Aaron Morgan and Daryl Branagan who lift the Seamus McFerran Cup in Armagh?

  2. Devlin returnspublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

Kilcoo v Errigal Ciaran, Athletic Grounds 15:30 GMT

The big news for Kilcoo is the return of their veteran forward and ace free-taker Paul Devlin.

After scoring 0-7 in the quarter-final win over Crosserlough, he was a late withdrawal from the side that hammered Scotstown in the semi-final due to a calf injury.

Manager Karl Lacey said they were doing everything to get Devlin ready for the final and it looks like the hard work has paid off.

If there are any late changes on either side we will bring them to you.

Kilcoo: Niall Kane; Niall Branagan, Ryan McEvoy, Callum Rogers; Miceal Rooney, Daryl Branagan, Eugene Branagan; Aaron Morgan (joint-capt.), Ryan Johnston; Chrissy Rooney, Anthony Morgan, Shealan Johnston; Ceilum Doherty, Jerome Johnston, Paul Devlin

  3. Big day is finally herepublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

Kilcoo v Errigal Ciaran, Athletic Grounds 15:30 GMT

Good afternoon, and after what's probably felt like a long two-week build-up for the parishes of Kilcoo and Errigal Ciaran, the big day has finally arrived.

Always one of the best occasions in the Ulster GAA calendar, the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship Final of 2024 features the seasoned campaigners of Kilcoo against relative newbies, the Tyrone champions Errigal Ciaran.

The Seamus McFerran Cup has wintered in Kilcoo in 2019 and again in 2021 when they went on to win the All-Ireland title beating Kilmacud Crokes in Croke Park in February 2022.

They have ruled supreme in Down winning 12 of the last 13 county titles which has made them a regular feature of the Ulster club series for more than a decade.

However since winning the All-Ireland, their Ulster campaigns have been ended by Glen and Scotstown in the last couple of seasons.

The Magpies' have looked so impressive getting to the final this year and are strongly fancied to win a third Ulster title today.

Errigal Ciaran are back in the final for the first time in 22 years.

The last of their two Ulster titles was in 2002 but they have come through a lot of close games this year both in the Tyrone championship and in Ulster.

Their manager Enda McGinley quipped after their narrow semi-final win over Clann Eireann that they are 'addicted' to winning ugly.

Safe to assume they'd take any kind of ugly win today to spring an upset in the Athletic Grounds.
