  2. 'It's a different game today'published at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

    Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich boss Alexander Straus speaking to DAZN: "I think it's a different game today and we have confidence anyway. We know the game was much tighter than the result showed so we have a lot of respect. Now we play away and it's a different part of the season. It's two teams that are top of the groups and through before the game. It's a big task for us today."

Georgia Stanway on facing her England teammates: "It's a little bit weird for me because I have not done it so many times in the past two and a half years. It’s a little bit weird but I kind of like it. It’s really nice to see them after the game. We know what happens in the game won’t affect who we are or the friendships we have got. It’s just about going out, doing our best, enjoying it, enjoying the game and afterwards we can have a good conversation."

  4. Bayern defeat was 'big wake-up call'published at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

    Arsenal

Arsenal defender Steph Catley on losing 5-2 to Bayern Munich earlier in the group stage: "I think that game was a big wake up call for us. We’re a proud team. We want to score goals, but we also want to keep clean sheets. That's something we want to do all the time. That was way too many goals conceded and just a poor performance for us in general.

"To take on a team like Bayern right now, which is one of the best teams in the world, it's going to be tough, but I feel like we're in a good place right now to take on that game and to get a result, and that is our biggest aim. We want to finish top of the group, so we're going out there to win the game."

  5. 'We want to defend better tonight'published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

    Arsenal

Arsenal interim boss Renee Slegers speaking to TNT Sports: "We've been performing really well as a team and overcoming challenges, tonight will be another one. Most of the focus is on us and where we're at and what level but Bayern Munich are a really good side.

"We've analysed and reviewed, so there are things we want to do better. We want to defend better tonight.

"Kim Little comes back into the team, it's good to have our captain back. Stina Blackstenius has been doing very well and we hope to get the best of her strengths tonight."

  6. Can Arsenal end before winter break on a high?published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

Arsenal have been on an impressive run since Renee Slegers took over as interim boss, but their momentum will soon be halted.

Tonight's game is the Gunners' last until they take on Bristol City in the FA Cup on 12 January, with the Women's Super League having entered the winter break.

Slegers' side beat Liverpool at the weekend in their final league game before the break and will want to end in positive fashion today and secure top spot in Group D.

  7. How things stand in Group Cpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

Bayern Munich currently top the group and will finish as winners as long as they avoid defeat this evening.

Both Bayern and Arsenal have secured their spots in the top two.

  8. Who's already through to the quarter-finals?published at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

Four of the eight teams in the Women's Champions League quarter-finals – the next stage of the competition – have already been decided.

Teams who win their group are seeded in the draw for the last eight and can not face each other.

    Group winners:

    • Lyon
    • Chelsea
    • Barcelona

    Runners-up:

    • Wolfsburg
    • Real Madrid
    • Manchester City

Arsenal and Bayern Munich have both earned their ticket out of the group stage, but top spot in Group C is still up for grabs.

  9. Why does winning the group matter?published at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

Of course, all teams remaining in the Champions League after the group stage will be of a high quality, but finishing top could hand an advantage to any team who does so.

The four group winners are seeded in the draw for the quarter-finals – the next stage of the competition. That means that the sides who finished top will not be able to face each other until the semi-finals.

The winner of tonight's game will be unable to face Lyon, Chelsea or Barcelona in the next round. That's a clear motivation to win the group, even if it otherwise seems a dead rubber with both having qualified.

  10. Will Arsenal get their revenge?published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

There's another big game on the way tonight in the Women's Champions League.

The last time these two met, it didn't exactly end well for the Gunners.

Arsenal were thrashed 5-2 by Bayern Munich in Germany in a game which would prove to be Jonas Eidevall's penultimate one. He resigned following a league defeat by Chelsea later that week.

But Arsenal have improved since Renee Slegers took over on an interim basis and are now 10 games unbeaten in all competitions, having won nine of those.

They have secured a spot in the knockout stages, too, and are just one point short of Bayern in Group C.

Will this resurgent Arsenal side prove a tougher force for the Bavarian giants tonight?

Losing the spine of the team is devastating for City. Shaw, Hemp and Greenwood are big losses but it also highlights their lack of strength in depth which exposes Taylor's transfer activity.
