Qualifying at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix has been postponed until Sunday as a result of heavy rain.

The session had been due to start at 18:00 UK time (15:00 local) on Saturday.

A decision was finally made at 16:45 local time on Saturday, after a series of delays, that the track was too wet and conditions were not going to improve.

Governing body the FIA said a decision on a new start time would be made “as soon as possible”.

Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali said: “The conditions are not safe to drive and there is a problem with the light.”

Sunset is at just after 18:00 local time in Sao Paulo.

Dan Pickering: Garlic chicken, chips, beans and grated cheese on top

Kyle: Made pizza at home including the base. Two types of cheese, cherry tomatoes, red onion, mushrooms with steamed broccoli and cauliflower on the side. Just had freshly baked croissant, with chunks of plum and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Thanks so much for all your messages, folks. You've done the F1 live page proud tonight!

The fans are walking out of Interlagos now. Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali has been chatting to F1TV and says the plan (hopefully) will be to run qualifying tomorrow morning, before the main grand prix. No confirmation yet as to what time that might be.

Jordan McLaren: Having jacket potato’s (they cooked in a shorter time than the delay) with garlic mushroom and sour cream sauce.

Thomas Thrower: Had bangers and mash for tea, now 'watching' in the night garden with my daughter whilst refreshing the feed!

SpeedForceBarrier: My wonderful mate Eleanor has made us Mexican soup while we've been waiting, though I did point out the irony of having that this weekend and not last one.

Todd: Didn’t think the train from Leeds to York would be faster than anything going round Interlagos tonight! Korean beef bao buns on the menu on arrival.

J: Roast pork belly and the sides and trimmings. Little son not well so this rain is perfect for putting him down just in time for qualy and lemon cheesecake pudding.

Andy Mac: Just munched a Madras. Now for a few well known mint thins whilst waiting for lights out.

Waffles: Spaghetti and meatballs with some garlic bread for tea.

Claire Green: Homemade bolognaise sauce on a baked potato for us with a nice Merlot.

Dan Byham: Lasagne for me tonight and the next 3 days! Would always recommend cooking in bulk for Uni students like myself.

  10. 'I really appreciate the effort from the fans' - Colapintopublished at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

On the support in South America, Williams' Franco Colapinto said: "It's great to see the support. Yesterday was a very sad day for me, I didn't enjoy but today in the morning I woke up and happy to be here again.

"To see all these fans and people here supporting and they are so so passionate for the sport. I'm extremely grateful for them to come all this way from Argentina, some have been travelling for two days on a bus and you hopefully they are not getting too wet today. I really appreciate the effort they have done to be here."

On we go with getting to know each. Obviously, I'm not allowed to ask about marital status or where you live, so we'll keep it strictly F1.

OK, in your opinion - and as there are only two thumbs, I'm limited with this - what is the most controversial moment in Formula 1 history?

The outcome of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2021 (left thumb).

Or the battles of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in 1989 and 1990 (right thumb).

  14. 'I would like to do a qualifying session' - Bearmanpublished at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

Oliver Bearman, who is driving in the Haas this weekend, told Sky Sports: "It's a bit disappointing with this weather but I think at the moment it's a bit too wet to drive but at the same time we are losing daylight so let's see how it goes."

On if qualifying was pushed to tomorrow morning, he added: "I would be able to go to sleep earlier tonight so that would be nice. I would like to do a qualifying session, I think at the moment it could be a bit risky but I know that the track staff are working hard to try and dry the track to make it safe.

"Once we get on track and the cars start running I think we will be ok, it's not a problem, it's just to get to safe water level to get out there."

On what he's like driving in the wet, he said: "I've never really driven F1 in the wet before, I've done one day at a test, at least I've driven a car on inters and wets, it's very different, moving around a lot more and there's lots of standing water.

"I think this track looks pretty fun in the wet and I was watching Max [Verstappen's] onboards from 2016 when he was overtaking everyone which was pretty cool."

Carlos Sainz has decided to go and stretch his legs and is holding a giant umbrella as he goes to chat to the pit wall. The Ferrari fans in the stands are loving it.

The safety car is back out on track to bank a few more laps to check the conditions, but I'm pretty sure it's still raining at Interlagos, so there is a lot of standing water still about.

The clock is ticking now. Will we see any running?

RM: At this rate, Brazil GP quali is going to end up being run tomorrow morning. As for dinner, it's ham and mushroom tagliatelle, albeit a supermarket ready meal version, so it's not as fancy as it sounds

Steve Grange: Pan fried scallops on a bed of black pudding, with tagliatelle and lightly roasted cashew nuts. Accompanied by a bottle of Rioja. Then a couple of shots of Auchentoshan as I sit down to watch qualifying.

Myles: Right, just started cooking a curry - what’s coming first, the end of Quali or a chicken curry?
