Paul Atkinson: Cottage pie with some red wine and maybe baked beans. Wife did a 7 till 3 shift at 111, so seemed only fair that I did dinner.

Matt: Tonight it's a KFC 20 piece mini fillet bucket, purely because someone suggested that tartare sauce goes well with fried chicken - and it does! (Although Chinese curry sauce is still my favourite!) Plus a lovely drop of Rioja. Because I'm classy but still down to earth!

Definitely trying that tartare sauce suggestion, thanks Matt!

    BBC weather forecaster

Rain set to continue until at least 17:00 local (20:00 UK). Generally the rain rates will remain light, but some heavier bursts remain possible at times. Prospects for qualifying today rely on rate of drainage (light falling rain isn't itself an issue) and the fading light exacerbated by cloud.

  3. Getting to know youpublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

There are ponchos as far as the eye can see in Sao Paulo, but alas, no Formula 1 cars are heading out onto the (very wet) track.

So, as we're going to be spending a bit more time together, twiddling our thumbs, shall we get to know each other? Well, sort of.

Click the left thumb if you're older than Fernando Alonso, or click the right thumb if you're younger than the Spaniard.

Sky Sports' Ted Kravitz has grabbed race director Niels Wittich as he exits the safety car. Can we go racing? "Not now at the moment," says Wittich. "We have to wait a few more moments to see if the weather conditions increase a little bit."

Matthew Murnaghan: For Tea, I'm going to have something from the freezer. Maybe a burger and fries.

Andrew WT: Worst thing about living in New Zealand, we’ve been awake for 24 hours now. Don’t know whether to go and get breakfast or wait for quali.

Nothing beats an F1 marshal, in the rain, with a brush.

So the plan is to get under way at 19:00 GMT if conditions improve. The safety car is out now doing a few laps, but there is a lot of standing water on that freshly resurfaced track.

The weather in Sao Paulo didn't play ball during last year's qualifying, with Max Verstappen taking pole position in rain-affected session.

Verstappen beatFerrari's Charles Leclerc to the best seat in the house, with Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso taking third and fourth.

The track stayed dry for every driver's first lap in Q3 but Leclerc described conditions as "super-weird" as the wind shifted direction.

Albeit rain rates are currently falling, FIA forecasters have warned teams that re-intensification is possible from about 15:40 local (18:40 UK).

That would be bad news if it occurs... but still time and potential for situation to change.

After the his duties are over today, Lewis Hamilton is getting behind the wheel of Brazilian legend Ayrton Senna's 1990 title-winning McLaren for a demo run - weather permitting.

When it comes to his 2024 Mercedes in the sprint race, Hamilton had one word word to describe his car. "Horrendous," said the seven-time world champion.

He added: "Honestly it felt really terrible today, even worse than it did in qualifying."

Hamilton dropped to P14 at the start of the race but recovered to finish in his qualifying position of P11. "Definitely a very difficult race, that was one of the worst races," he said.

"I felt the car just sliding around and zero grip behind even the Williams."

  20. Can McLaren take Sao Paulo pole again?published at 18:10 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Oscar PiastriImage source, Getty Images

McLaren holding off the decision to switch Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris made the end of the sprint - which also involved a virtual safety car for Nico Hulkenberg's stricken Haas - a tad nerve-wracking for all involved.

Norris said he wasn't "proud" of the team orders win, but he did give thanks to his Australian team-mate for helping him achieve the result, acknowledging Piastri did indeed deserve the victory today.

As for qualifying, the two papaya drivers go into today's fight as firm favourites to take pole after Friday's sprint qualifying performance.

Norris was streets ahead of the field before Piastri snuck through and claimed the front-row spot after the Briton had failed to improve on his second run.
