Victorious 4x100m team revel in goldpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 7 August 2022

Fair to say the English quartet enjoyed that!

Ojie Edoburun barely let up in pace as he crossed the line, slam-dunking the baton into an official's basket before leaping into the arms of opening leg Jona Efoloko.

The pair whip up the decibels from the crowd, thump chests and point down camera lenses.

Nice touch as they meet back up with Zharnel Hughes and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake and Jodie Williams, fresh from picking up 400m bronze, comes and gives each of her team-mates a hug.

    Men's 4x100 relay

    Colin Jackson
Two-time world 110m hurdles champion on BBC TV

The pressure that the England team must have felt, there is huge expectation on this squad.

What you want to to is keep in contention and get the baton going. Once Mitchell-Blake got the baton he steamed around the bend.

There was only one moment I held my breath a little bit in the change over between Hughes and Mitchell-Blake.

I think Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake has just about got away with one there.

He pointed to his right, towards the crowd, after handing over to Ojie Edoburun for the final leg.

And he was very, very close to impeding the Trinidad and Tobago athlete.

Can Scotland make it a hat-trick of golds with Reese Lynch later in the light welterweight final?

    Men's road race

That is, finally, the end of the neutralised start in the men's road race.

An early crash, featuring Scotland's John Archibald, held things up a bit, but at last we're away!

160km, or 10 laps of the Warwick circuit, lie ahead of the riders. Great to see the streets lined with spectators.

Australia's time trial champion Rohan Dennis does not start today.

    Men's 4x100m relay

    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

This England team on the men's side should win this. It's theirs to lose. It is going to come down to the veterans to hold this together, but it is going to be tough.

You want the quickest out of the blocks. You do want veterans taking the baton and handing it off. You don't always put your fastest guy on anchor - that doesn't always work. You do want your fastest bend runner - do you want guys chasing, or running away.

In the women's, England, Jamaica and Nigeria were the three medallists at each of the past two Commonwealth Games. Will we see a repeat today?

Happy to report that Zambia's Muzala Samukonga is up on his feet as the 400m medallists come out to collect their medals.

There is a big smile and wave from England's Matt Hudson-Smith on the silver step.

Fun fact, the Zambia national anthem is the same as part of the South African one. I thought the DJ had lobbed on the wrong disc.
