    It has been a long slog for the Wales table tennis team who have been in action since the opening day of competition.

    Now on the final morning of action, Charlotte Carey and Anna Hursey have a chance of a bronze medal in the women's doubles at Birmingham's NEC as they face Singapore duo Wong Xin Ru and Zhou Jingu.

    Wales have won 27 medals so far with eight gold, six silver and 13 bronze.

    They will be hoping for a 28th.

    But England have been knocking on the door. Nick Bandurak had a goal disallowed earlier while deflecting in a long-range strike that had been adjudged to have been lifted.

    So, what can you look forward to on the last day of Birmingham 2022:

    • 09:00-14:00 - Badminton - England players in two more finals. Ben Lane and Sean Vendy are in the men's doubles final, and Chloe Birch and Lauren Smith are in the women's doubles final.
    • 09:30-13:15 - Table tennis - England have Liam Pitchford in the men's gold match against India's Sharath Achanta, with Paul Drinkhall in the bronze match against another Indian opponent, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran.
    • 10:00-13:00 - Diving - The 3m synchro event represents a great chance for Scotland with James Heatly and Grace Reid competing together, while England and Scotland both have teams in the 10m synchro.
    • 10:00-14:30 - Squash - England are guaranteed a gold medal with Daryl Selby and Adrian Waller taking on Declan James and James Willstrop. In the women's event New Zealand's Joelle King, and team-mate Amanda Murphy face England duo Alison Waters and Sarah-Jane Perry.
    • 12:30-15:00 - Hockey - England's men face South Africa in the bronze medal match at 09:00.

    Halfway through the first quarter and England have started well with Games top-scorer Nick Bandurak already forcing South Africa keeper Gowan Jones into a fine diving save from a penalty corner.

    And seconds later Bandurak has a go again from open play, this time it's a simpler save for the stopper with his left kicker.

    Here's how the medal table looks with one more day of action to go.

    Australia are going to finish on top at Birmingham 2022, having already won 66 gold medals with a total; haul of 174.

    England will place second, with 55 golds and 166 medals in all, some way ahead of Canada.

    Scotland are in sixth with 12 golds and 49 medal, while Wales are eighth (eight golds, 27 medals) and Northern Ireland are 10th (seven golds, 18 medals).

    Yesterday was a bit mad, wasn't it?

    45 gold medal were won on Sunday in a brilliant penultimate day of action filled with plenty of success for the home nations. Here's a recap of what went down:

    • England beat Australia to claim a first ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in women's hockey;
    • On the track, Scotland's Laura Muir took 1500m gold while Eilish McColgan won silver in the 5000m;
    • England's women won a dramatic 4x400m relay gold but they were later disqualified for a lane infringement, promoting Scotland to bronze;
    • England's men successfully defended their 4x100m title, while the women's quartet won silver behind Nigeria;
    • England's Matt Hudson-Smith was denied men's 400m gold by Zambia's Muzala Samukonga, before Victoria Ohuruogu took silver in the women's race and team-mate Jodie Williams claimed the bronze; England's Cindy Sember also won bronze in the women's 100m hurdles;
    • Scotland's Neah Evans won silver in cycling's women's road race and Finn Crockett took bronze in the men's event;
    • Scotland's Sam Hickey and Sean Lazzerini won boxing golds, as Rosie Eccles won the women's light middleweight title for Wales;
    • Northern Ireland boxer Jude Gallagher was awarded the men's featherweight title and Dylan Eagleson won men's bantamweight gold;
    • England's Demie-Jade Resztan took silver in the women's minimumweight final and team-mate Kiaran MacDonald won silver in the men's flyweight final;
    • England's Paul Drinkhall and Liam Pitchford won gold in the table tennis men's doubles;
    • Para-table tennis player Joshua Stacey won gold in the men's table tennis singles classes 8-10;

    It's 0-0 between England and South Africa after five minutes in the men's hockey bronze-medal match.

    After England women's success in their final yesterday, will the men also medal and claim a third bronze in a row?

    South Africa have been the surprise team and a bronze would be their best result at the Commonwealth Games; they were fourth 20 years ago.

    The last time these two teams met in the Commonwealth Games was in 2010, when England won 2-1.

    Some early medal news to bring you.

    England pair Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith have just missed out on a Commonwealth Games gold medal as they were beaten in the mixed doubles badminton final by Singapore's Terry Hee and Jessica Tan this morning.

    The world number 10 pairing, who won silver in 2018, fell to a shock straight-games defeat, losing 21-16, 21-15.

    Smith also plays in the women's doubles final at 11:20 BST on Monday alongside partner Chloe Birch against Thailand's top seeds Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan.

    Olympic bronze medallist Ellis has now won four Commonwealth Games medals while Smith has won six.
