Boom! Epic riding from Sophie Capewell as she races her way into the sprint semi-finals, beating Canada's Sarah Orban over two heats.

Orban takes a tumble coming round the final bend but she is ok.

A little delay as the track mechanics check for any damage.

'England need to capitalise on opportunities'published at 13:36 British Summer Time 30 July 2022

    FT: New Zealand 38-7 England

England women's third and final group A game in the rugby sevens ended in a 38-7 defeat by New Zealand earlier today, which means the side will face South Africa for a place in the 5th/6th play-off at 17:30 BST.

"It’s always tough losing to New Zealand," said Abbie Brown. "We haven’t beaten them since 2016 so we’re still eager to go out and beat them and I’m sure we will one day.

“But we’ve only really been together as a squad since January so you look at that and you look at some of the performance."

Team-mate Megan Jones added: "We just need to capitalise on our opportunities, that’s the bottom line."

So the Commonwealth Games records tumbled in the men's pursuit qualifying round, after the same happened in the women's event earlier.

Later, it'll be two Kiwis, Aaron Gate and Tom Sexton, going head-to-head for gold.

England's Charlie Tanfield will attempt to get the better of Australia's Connor Leahy for bronze.

Rhian Edmunds' individual sprint campaign ends in the quarter-finals.

The Wales cyclist is beaten in two heats by Canada's Kelsey Mitchell, who progresses to the semis.

The crowd here at Lee Valley VeloPark has emptied a touch as people presumably go off in search of a bit of lunch, but expecting the noise to ramp up as England's Sophie Capewell is up next...

The crowd was behind Tanfield and it makes a difference. It is not the best that we have seen from Tanfield, and while he acknowledged the crowd, it was all he had to give today.

Wow, that was deafening as England and Scotland went head-to-head.

England's Charlie Tanfield was trailing Scotland's Kyle Gordon until the last few laps, but pulls it out of the bag at the death to finish fourth and clinch a spot in the bronze medal ride.

What a sensational ride by Gordon too, though. He's a pipe fitter on North Sea oil rigs by trade, and has had to balance that with travelling from north of Inverness to Glasgow for training. Some effort.

    Australia 83-30 Scotland

    Becky Grey

It's all over at the netball.

Scotland make it to the 30 mark which is no mean feat against this Australia team.

The Diamonds scored 95 against Barbados yesterday. Scotland have managed to keep them to 83. A mini-win? I reckon so.

The crowd thinks so too as the Saltires come out and fans stand to show love for their side.

England v Malawi coming up at 14:00 BST. Let's see what the Roses can do after another dominant performance from their rivals for gold.

Those four matches will be played this evening while Wales and England will have to be content with battling for ninth place.

The session starts in Coventry at 17:30 BST with 12 more matches on Saturday and the medals decided on Sunday evening.

Ouch! Both centres go flying at the netball.

They both seem to be alright and it is Australia who win the penalty for yet another goal.

There are less than 10 minutes left, but the crowd are still loving any hint of success for Scotland.

They cheer every single interception or goal, despite the score being 67-28 to Australia.

Australia's Jessica Stenson showed us how strong she is. I have been so impressed with her over the last 15km or so. She has been the one gradually getting rid of people from the group and when it got down to three she never let up.

After a false start, Scotland's Jonny Wale goes round the 4000m in four minutes 23.353 seconds - enough for 10th place right now.

Not troubling the medals, but a good effort from the self-coached rider.

The show court at the squash is quite the place. Spectators can watch from all four sides, and their oohs and aaah bounce around the intimate venue.
