  1. 'I think it will be an exciting race to watch'

    Women's marathon

    Paula Radcliffe

Women's marathon world record holder on BBC TV

I think the women's marathon will be an exciting race to watch and one that will pan out slightly differently to the men's race.

You would hope that the main pack of contenders will stay together a little bit longer.

Let's see if the Australian trio of runners can work together as a team.

  2. Post update

    Women's marathon

Nice shot of the Bullring in view as the women's marathon is under way.

Helalia Johannes, now 41, will be hoping to defend her crown after becoming the first Namibian woman to win a Commonwealth gold medal in any sport four years ago.

Australia's Jessica Stenson claimed bronze medals in 2014 and 2018.

Georgina Schwiening competes for England, Natasha Cockram and Clara Evans represent Wales and Sarah Webster is running for Isle of Man.

Scotland's Olympic silver medallist Neah Evans is up soon in the women's individual pursuit.

    Women's sprint qualifying

    Thomas Duncan

BBC Scotland at the Lee Valley VeloPark

The Scottish trio are all safely through to the last-16 - where the head-to-head match sprints start.

Lauren Bell finished the 200m time trial in 10th, Luisa Steele was 13th, and Iona Moir squeezed through in 15th place.

    Women's sprint qualifying

    Katie Falkingham

BBC Sport at Lee Valley VeloPark

Big cheers for England's Sophie Capewell as she sets a new fastest time of 10.625 seconds to be the top placed athlete from the home nations in qualifying.

She's quickly overtaken at the top of the standings as Canada's Kelsey Mitchell stops the clock in 10.612.

Capewell finishes qualifying in second place with eight riders from the home nations progressing to the next round, which is coming up a little later in this session.

  6. 'I think they hadn't realised how hard this course was going to be'

    Men's marathon

    Steve Cram

    Athletics commentator on BBC TV

The start of the women's marathon will be delayed by 10 minutes until 10:40 BST. The men's race was also delayed. I think they hadn't realised how hard this course was going to be.

Certainly the wheelchair marathons took longer than they had anticipated. Given the technical nature of the course perhaps that should have been factored in.

  7. Post update

    Men's marathon

Liam Adams finds himself about 25 yards away from the three leaders alongside Kenya's Jonathan Korir but then uses a long stretch of downhill to haul himself back up to the front of the race.

The pace drops a touch now and an uphill section sees Adams fall back again.

  8. Women's sevens semi-final draw complete

    Gareth Griffiths

    BBC Sport Wales in Coventry

The women's rugby sevens semi-final draw is complete with Fiji facing Canada and Australia playing New Zealand in the evening session on Saturday.

England missed out on qualification after losing to Canada on Friday and also suffered a 38-7 defeat to New Zealand on Saturday morning.

Michaela Blyde scored another couple of tries for New Zealand after managing six in one game against Sri Lanka on Friday.

Canada defeated Sri Lanka 67-0 with Krissy Scurfield scoring five tries.

Scotland picked up a first win of the tournament on Saturday morning against South Africa.

The highest place Scotland and England can now finish is fifth.

  9. Post update

    Men's marathon

Liam Adams has popped. The Australian drops off the pace at the front of the race and quickly finds himself distanced by a three-man leading group containing Victor Kiplangat.

England's Blaine Ridge-Davis set a time of 11.125 secs to sit fifth as it stands while Wales' Rhian Edmunds is currently third in 10.933 secs.

With Lowri Thomas in second, it's a Welsh one-two-three at the top at the moment.

    Women's sprint qualifying

    Thomas Duncan

BBC Scotland at the Lee Valley VeloPark

The three Scots in the women's sprint are all aged 22 or under - but they've made their mark so far.

18-year-old Iona Moir set the fastest time early on as the second rider out, only to be eclipsed by her team-mate Luisa Steele in a time of 11.171.

Lauren Bell has just posted a superb 10.956 to go into second behind Wales' Lowri Thomas.

All three Scots are looking good for a top-16 finish and a place in the next round.

  13. Fourteen-year-old wins debut squash match

    Women's singles

Watch as 14-year-old Indian squash player Anahat Singh beat Jada Ross of St Vincent and the Grenadines in her first ever match at the Commonwealth Games.

Maybe steer clear if you're from the southern Caribbean nation mind.

Singh faces Welsh former world number 12 Emily Whitlock later on Saturday (19:15 BST).

    Men's marathon

Liam Adams is maintaining his pace at the head of the race in the men's marathon, checking his watch after each kilometre marker passed.

Got to be honest I'd very much have welcomed seeing the measurements in miles as well. Always handy for a 26-mile race.

  17. 'From where I am from, you don't give up - in anything'

    Men's wheelchair marathon

More from David Weir: "I have had problems with my chair since [the Olympic Games in] Tokyo. I went back to my old chair, I got it rebuilt and it has been fantastic.

"Since I have been back in this chair I just felt really comfortable and flying. It's just been a bit annoying.

"Since May the training has been through the roof. I have just felt 10 years younger, so it's just frustrating.

"If I didn't have my mates in the last 4km running beside me I probably would have stopped. I probably would have just pulled over and given up.

"From where I am from, on a council estate, you don't give up - in anything."

  18. 'I thought if I take a spare tyre I am going to jinx myself'

    Men's wheelchair marathon

    Weir

England's David Weir on suffering a puncture while leading the men's wheelchair marathon: "I feel I don't have enough luck lately in major championships, since [the 2016 Olympic Games in] Rio to be honest.

"I do the marathon circuit, come in the top three against the top men in the world and the last 10 weeks of training have probably been the best in years.

"I had a lot of confidence coming in here. I was debating about whether to bring a spare [tyre]. I have never brought a spare, in a race, ever, in my life.

"I thought if I take a spare I am going to jinx myself."

Talk about coincidence, a feed station has been placed right outside Cadbury World. Can't imagine any bars of chocolate were on the menu. Just drinks.
