    'A really tough double'published at 21:17 British Summer Time 30 July 2022

Scotland's Duncan Scott: "Real tough double. This Games doesn’t quite work in my favour. I think about a week ago they moved the 200m freestyle final back. But it’s just one of them, I've done plenty of doubles in my time. This one is no different, it’s just about trying to manage it through the rounds. Thought I did that well this morning. I'm glad it was 400m and not any more."

On singing on podium: "Absolutely yeah, Elijah and Deano were saying how bad my singing voice is. Need to take them for some karaoke after this."

Battling with Tom Dean: "Yeah we both love it. It's a really positive thing. It's a nice change being on different sides of the table this time. Scotland vs England. It’s always positive, we’ll rekindle the relationship as we get back to Team GB. It’s really good that's what we want to do in Paris… that 4 x 200m we won in Tokyo and we want to do the same in Paris.

Another double tomorrow? "We’ll see! The tough thing with this is there’s 600m of racing in the morning and then doing it again, so that’s 1200m in total. That’s tough for anyone. We’ll see."

    Women's artistic team final

Kelly Simm is up first - the experienced 27-year-old absolutely nails her vault and scores 12.800 to hold onto England's slender lead.

It's going to be routine for routine here as Australia's Romi Brown bags 12.750 on floor.

    Men’s 100m backstroke final

What a swim by Brodie Williams! He very, very nearly won it but takes a brilliant silver.

Williams was leading in the final few seconds but South Africa's Pieter Coetze pinches the gold right at the end.

Australia's Bradley Woodward wins the bronze.

A lifetime best of 53.91 for Williams. Superb.

    Women's artistic team final

Claudia Fragapane has just put in an incredible floor performance to cap off England's third apparatus.

The 24-year-old won gold on floor in 2014 in Glasgow and looks emotional at the end of her routine. She posts a score of 12.450 - it's won't be enough to get her to the individual floor final this year but it's a momentous moment for her after returning from injury.

That brings a close to that discipline for England, we're into the final rotation. It'll be vault to finish for England...

    England 109-5 (17.1 overs), Sri Lanka 106-9

England put 109 runs on the board and, most importantly, put two points next to their name in the group standings.

That means England go top of Group B ahead of New Zealand, who beat South Africa in their opening match, on net run rate.

Top two sides go through to the semi-finals, remember.

Next up for England? South Africa. The sides meet at Edgbaston on Tuesday (11:00 BST).

Scotland's Stephen Newns' wait for a boxing Commonwealth Games medal continues as the 24-year-old has just been beaten by Albert Mengue in the Men's light middleweight round of 32.

Newns, who narrowly missed out four years ago when he was defeated in the quarter-finals by Fiji’s Winston Hill, lost 3-2 on points to the Cameroon fighter.

Medal number nine! What was that about a smelter (19:50 BST)...?

We feared he might have been undercooked, but Duncan Scott has brought some of his best stuff to this meet tonight.

The moment he swaggered out of the call room with his arms aloft and a smirk on his face, it was clear he fancied it. First his big pal Tom Dean was seen off for gold, and now he's cruised to a bronze from lane one in the medley.

One more medal and he'll be the joint most decorated Scottish Games athlete alongside shooter Alister Allan. There's a target for him....

    Women's artistic team final

Stunning, elegant performance from Georgia-Mae Fenton on floor - 12.450 is the score. Alice Kinsella follows her and after some HUGE tumbling she looks absolutely thrilled with her 13.450 - that's the best floor score of the day so far!

Australia are currently on beam and it's not looking too straightforward for them. Breanna Scott's routine is packed with difficulty but there were a few wobbles so it's 12.450 for her.

This final will certainly go down to the final apparatus.

Given he's had Covid quite recently and the fact he was in the pool barely an hour ago, it feels like a gold here is going to be a tough task for Duncan Scott. But if he does manage it, it will be hugely impressive.

    Thrilling race in prospect here.
