Three of England’s double silver medal winning team-mates are up in the first semi-final for the men’s 100m freestyle. They are Lewis Burras, Jacob Whittle and Tom Dean, who also has an individual silver.

The women's 50m freestyle final is under way. This will be quick!

The third quarter hooter rings out loud around the University of Birmingham and England are still only a goal up on Canada in this women's pool A match.

Just like in the first half, plenty of pressing and neat play from the host nation but Canadian goalkeeper Rowan Harris and her defence are again able to block out a number of attempts and keep the scoreline within touching distance.

England duo Anna Hopkin and Isabella Hindley, who have won two silver medals so far in Birmingham, are also in action along with Northern Ireland’s Danielle Hill.

At the NEC there's a home nations clash happening between Wales and Scotland in the netball.

Wales are ranked eighth in the world and Scotland are ninth so both will have eyed this as a game they think they should win - it's going to be a close one.

Wales edging it so far but it's very early days.

We talk a lot about resilience, and this young woman [Alice Tai] personifies that. What a year she’s had and now she’s a gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games.

Over in the rugby sevens, England's men's beat Uganda 31-17 in the play-off match for ninth place - Jamie Adamson bagged three tries.

Scotland lost out to Samoa in the play-off match for fifth, that one finished 24-19.

Next up it's New Zealand against Canada in the women's bronze medal match.

Alice Tai is on the podium to receive her gold medal.

It really has to be emphasised just how incredible her achievement is. She has won gold, having had her right leg amputated below the knee this year.

Recovering from that to win gold, just incredible and the crowd are on their feet to applaud her.

Just clocked Chad le Clos' dad in the crowd smiling broadly and punching the air as his son walks past with his latest medal.

And they are equally as gripping.

Six gold medals were won today, with Wales' first gold of the Games - thanks to James Ball in the men's tandem sprint - being the headline.

Wales also won two bronze medals, while Scotland earned three silver and two bronze.

England, still without a gold at the velodrome, won silver and bronze today.

The first boxing session of the day over at the NEC brought success for the home nations fighters.

Northern Ireland's Carly McNaul is through to the quarter-finals of the women's light-flyweight division thanks to a gutsy split-decision win over Australian Kristy Lee Harris.

Reese Lynch of Scotland had to come from behind against Shiva Thapa of India to book his quarter-final place in the men's light-welterweight. The 21-year-old lost the first round on all five judges’ scorecards but secured the next two on points to progress in the competition.

England's Lewis Richardson, who won European middleweight silver earlier this year and is one of the favourites to claim a Commonwealth Games medal in the men's division, was victorious by split decision verdict over Uganda’s Yusuf Nkobeza.

Also in the men's middleweight last 16, Northern Ireland's Jake Tucker lost to Guernsey boxer Bill Le Poullain, while Scotland's Sam Hickey triumphed over Kyghan Mortley of St Lucia after their gruelling bout went the distance.

Commonwealth Games debutant Hickey remains on course for a rematch with GB team-mate Richardson.

Fresh from thrashing Ghana 12-0 in their Commonwealth Games opener yesterday, England are in action now against Canada at the University of Birmingham.

It was goalless between the two sides after the first quarter. England were dominate in possession and Maddie Hinch was untroubled in goal, but Flora Peel's snapped shot was the only chance of note for the 2018 bronze medallists.

In the second quarter, Canadian goalkeeper Rowan Harris made a sensational save with a cluster of bodies blocking her view in the first few minutes, but she was unable to keep out a quality slap by defender Anna Toman from a corner and it's England who have taken the advantage at the half-time hooter.

There was also a huge cheer just before the ceremony with England fans jumping to their feet and waving England flags. That's because the announcer had just announced the Lionesses' Euro 2022 win.

What a night of racing we've had so far.

It is the medal ceremony for the men's 200m butterfly, with Lewis Clareburt receiving his gold medal.

Chad le Clos' silver means he now has 18 Commonwealth Games medals - the joint most alongside shooters Phillip Adams, of Australia, and England's Mick Gault.

James Guy gets a huge ovation as he gets his bronze medal.

"I can't even believe I am here. I had two surgeries on my arms last year and an amputation in January.

"I didn't even think I would be able to race at the end of last year. I can't believe I won that.

"I have so much to learn, my start can be better - I don't know how I can balance - it keeps changing as I am getting used to it.

"I got a gold in Rio in the team event - but I want one in Paris in the individual."
