This is a super leg from Sophie Caldwell. One thing she does do is execute the most perfect of races and transitions.

Over the years she has been known as a swim-biker but her run has been improving, so I expect to see her hold her own on this run.

    Women's fours quarter-finals

The rain that quite literally put a dampener on the morning session has made way for brighter, bluer skies above Victoria Park as the women's four quarter-finals at the lawn bowls begin.

The venue's presenter has plonked himself in amongst the friends and family of the Northern Ireland team, among them is young Darcy who is sporting a t-shirt reading 'That's me ma' - in reference to her mum Courtney who is out there on the greens.

Interestingly all members of the NI women's four are under the age of 30, and are out to challenge the perception that bowls is a sport that caters mainly for an older crowd.

They're out for a medal, too. But remember, unlike in boxing, advancing to a semi-final does not guarantee a bronze, so NI need to win this and one more game if they are to get on the podium.

England's Alice Kinsella, 21, went to the Gold Coast as a 17-year-old with only one year of senior experience, and ended up coming back with three medals including bronze in the all-around event.

The 2020 Olympic bronze medallist, who is the daughter of former Republic of Ireland midfielder Mark Kinsella, opens up with a very competent vault to score 13.850.

Her compatriot Ondine Achampong just sneaks ahead mind with a 13.900.
