Not so much as a wry grin from Rhys McClenaghan after that.

He knows he isn't going to get up above Joe Fraser. Still very much in the medal hunt, though.

    Men's pommel horse final

Joe Fraser's 14.833 is the score to beat and Rhys McClenaghan's routine on the pommel horse isn't quite perfect and he knows it. Not sure it will be enough to beat Fraser.

What a shame because [Marios Georgiou] was going for it then! He's smiling to himself because he had done the difficult part of the routine and quite a basic travel and he just caught and slipped and fell off.

    Men's pommel horse final

Canada's Kenji Tamane gets the men's pommel horse final up and running with a 10.833. He shrugs his shoulders and smiles as the camera focusses on him after a mistake cost him a higher score to kick things off.

Marios Georgiou of Cyprus is up now and has just had a bad slip that, fortunately, he manages to land safely off. It is a shame as he finishes off routine with a medal-worthy attempt but that slip will cost him.

Golds galore so far today for England.

The more these Games go on, the more people start to become aware of [Jake Jarman].

He was the youngster coming into this - the unknown factor. Yes he was reserve last year but we've obviously seen him around in the juniors, and he can literally just spin! The skills that he trains in the gym and his spacial awareness is incredible.

What I've noticed over these Games is his control. Before, he would get the landings but step out, and that's where he was being deducted. But at these Games, he's managed to control that adrenaline and take those landings - and that's where his scores have skyrocketed and helped him claim these titles.

The 20-year-old, who is the youngest member of Scotland's boxing squad, will face India's Amit Panghal on Thursday.

He told BBC Sport following his win: "I didn't know much about the guy, so my plan was to just come out, keep my shape and see how it goes.

"The European Championships are always big but this is a big stage, big platform. Just brilliant to be down here and hope to go all the way.

"I can go all the way. I can beat anybody put in front of me."
