Netballpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 1 August 2022

    England 32-15 Northern Ireland

There's a bit of argy bargy happening between England's Ellie Cardwell and Northern Ireland's Fi Toner - it's a non-contact sport of course so we'll call it 'contesting'.

Those two know each other well from the domestic Superleague in the UK so a few elbows is nothing new.

England have a healthy lead with a few minutes to go until half-time.

Boxing: Men's flyweight round of 16

    Michael Morrow
BBC Sport NI at The NEC

Yasmin Javadian, get in there. Let's keep the good times rolling in the combat sports shall we?

With 61 medals, boxing is NI's most successful Commonwealth sport by a distance.

In that vain much is expected of the 2022 crop, but its been a mixed bag in the early stages. Two fighters, JP Hale and Jake Tucker, have made early exits - but there's plenty of medal hopes remaining.

Up tonight it's 18-year-old flyweight Clepson dos Santos and featherweight Jude Gallagher fighting for a place in the quarter-finals.

  3. netball

Netballpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 1 August 2022

    England 24-14 Northern Ireland

Imogen Allison is on at wing defence and Laura Malcolm has shifted up to wing attack, Sophie Drakeford-Lewis has moved up to goal attack and Helen Housby is on the bench.

Northern Ireland are being really patient around the shooting circle but the combo of Eboni Usoro-Brown and Stacey Francis-Bayman is such an experienced one. Northern Ireland's shooters are managing to find some success, though.

  4. bronze medal

Bronze medal - Northern Ireland - Yasmin Javadianpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 1 August 2022

    Judo: Women's -52kg

Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' is a cracking song to get you pumped up to win a Commonwealth Games medal.

Yasmin Javadian brings home a well-earned bronze for Northern Ireland - and Coventry Judo Club - with a victory in Golden Score over Jacira Ferreira of Mozambique.

  5. netball

Netballpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 1 August 2022

    England 18-9 Northern Ireland

We've had 15 minutes of play in the netball and England have already drawn out a pretty decent lead.

Ellie Cardwell and Helen Housby have put the shots up well with Housby shooting at 100% so far.

Aaron Gate scored in every sprint but two in that race. Remarkable bit of riding from him. He only actually crossed the line three times in first position - just so cleverly ridden!

    Medal bouts

Amy Patten has been awarded her bronze medal to the delight of the home crowd. The 21-year-old is studying neuroscience at the University of Nottingham. A judoka of many talents.

Northern Ireland's Yasmin Javadian is next on the mat against Jacira Ferreira of Mozambique in the women's -52kg bronze medal match.

Javadian opted to walk out to Eminem's 'Lose Yourself', while Ferreira chose Missy Elliot's 'Get Ur Freak On'...

It's hotting up in the lawn bowls - it's been to me, to you between Australia's Ellen Ryan and Guernsey's Lucy Beere in these latter stages and it is all square at 17-17 after 21 ends.

This could go down to the wire.

Beere has already secured Guernsey's first medal since 1994 - but what colour is it going to be?

  9. bronze medal

Bronze medal - England - Ollie Woodpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 1 August 2022

    Men's 40km points race

Campbell Stewart wins the final sprint to pinch silver, so it is bronze for England's Ollie Wood.

Stewart's New Zealand team-mate Aaron Gate wins the gold.

    Men's 40km points race

Ollie Wood takes two points in the penultimate sprint but five for Campbell Stewart means he is putting pressure on Wood for silver. Just one point between them with seven laps to go.

  11. netball

Netballpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 1 August 2022

    England 10-3 Northern Ireland

This is probably not what England might call their 'strongest seven', head coach Jess Thirlby has made several changes throughout this tournament so far.

But she's using this as a good opportunity to test that partnership between Ellie Cardwell and Helen Housby, the only shooting pair that haven't really fired together yet so far.

The Roses are out to an early lead half-way through the first quarter.

  14. netball

Netballpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 1 August 2022

    England v Northern Ireland

Pamela Cookey on commentary has just said she doesn't think England have been tested yet.

She's right - both victories so far have been comfortable and this one is expected to be the same.

At this half-way point England will have half an eye on their final group game against New Zealand - that will probably determine who finishes first and second in the group and therefore who gets who in the semi-final.

    We're underway at the NEC.

  15. gold-medal

Gold medal - England - Ashley McKenziepublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 1 August 2022

    Judo: Men's -60kg

It's an all-England affair in the men's -60kg final as team-mates Ashley McKenzie and Sam Hall face each other for the gold medal.

McKenzie was champion in Glasgow in 2014 and Hall is the top seed for the Games in Birmingham.

So, who will come out on top?

It's McKenzie! A second waza-ari for the 33-year-old and victory is confirmed by ippon (combined techniques).

A big roar of delight for the new Commonwealth champion; a silver medal for his buddy Hall.

We've just dipped under 50 laps to go in the men's 40km points race.

New Zealand's Aaron Gate is leading on 32 points, England's Ollie Wood is second on 23, and Scotland's Mark Stewart is in fourth on 12 points.

Stewart is the defending champion in the event. John Archibald, who won silver for Scotland in the scratch race last night, is in sixth and is now pushing to try to steal a lap.

We've lost quite a lot of riders, almost half the field as we approach the final 50 laps.

England's Ollie Wood remains well placed in second with 23 points but New Zealand's Aaron Gate has just taken another five points on the latest sprint and he leads by nine points.

England, who had a day off yesterday, are taking on Northern Ireland in their third Pool B match - they'll be looking to make it three from three after securing wins against Trinidad and Tobago and Malawi.

Northern Ireland are yet to win a match at the tournament after tough games against world champions New Zealand and Malawi.
