England women double their lead through Tess Howard who throws herself at Sophie Hamilton's pass to steer it into the net.

That's got the crowd out of their seats. It's been a hard-fought game and there were signs India were getting themselves back into it.

But the hosts are in a commanding position with about four minutes of the third quarter left.

Team Wales will be happy with its athletes' work on the first morning of the track and field events.

UK men's 100m champion Jeremiah Azu eased into tomorrow's semi-finals, while Welsh 100m record holder Hannah Brier advanced as one of the fastest losers in the women's event.

Bobsleigh shot putter Adele Nicoll qualifies for the women's shot put final - and hopes will be high for a medal in the women's T37/38 100m tonight as Olivia Breen looked very good in her heat.

The final result is in... It's 13.066 for Emma Spence - and a bronze medal!

Which means it's a one-two for Australia, as Kate McDonald takes gold and Georgia Godwin must settle for silver.

England's Alice Kinsella is just denied a bronze medal at the very end, finishing fourth ahead of compatriot Georgia-Mae Fenton and Welsh pair Jea Maracha and Sophie Micallef.

Gold medal for England's Joe Fraserpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Men's parallel bars final

Joe Fraser takes it! Another silver for Giarnni Regini-Moran.

It was a brilliant routine from Regini-Moran and scored a very respectable 14.733.

But the level of difficulty in Fraser's routine meant he was always going to be tough to catch with that score of 15.000.

Gold in his hometown. What a feeling that must be. Double gold actually after his pommel horse triumph. And a team gold too. He's not nearly as much gold as Jake Jarman. Fraser could yet equal him - he has the horizontal bar final to come.

    Parallel bars final.

Another gold for England - but who?published at 14:49 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Men's parallel bars final

Two more competitors have come and gone. And England's Joe Fraser remains in first place in the bars final.

Australia's Mitchell Morgans was unable to make an impression on the medal places while Cyprus' Ilias Georgiou made a tremendous recovery from looking like the Leaning Tower of Pisa at one stage to hang on to complete his routine.

Only one gymnast to go - England's birthday boy Giarnni Regini-Moran. Either he or Fraser will take gold - either way England are guaranteed a ninth gymnastics gold of the Games.

Unfortunately that error at the start will probably have cost Brinn Bevan a medal.

It's such a shame because he's very strong on this piece of apparatus.

    Men's parallel bars final

There will be no medal for Wales' Brinn Bevan.

A slight error at the start of his bars routine proves costly in what has been a high-quality final.

He scores 13.400 which puts him fourth of five so far.
