On being clipped from behind with just 100m left, she said: "I was feeling good but I got completely thrown off there from behind.

"It's a part of racing so I can't do anything about it.

"I need to speak to my coaching team to find out exactly what happened because I haven't seen it."

Aneeta Raindi and daughter Amrita, four, tell Perry that this is not their first Commonwealths 2022 rodeo.

They have already been to table tennis and swimming. And they are heading to see the opening ceremony bull in Centenary Square once they are done here.

They live just near Sandwell and Amrita is part of Warley Wasps swimming club who will move in to the new swimming venue once the Games are done.

"I think she is just really proud," says Aneeta of Amrita. "She keeps asking what is going on and what she can go to next."

The Northern Ireland judo bronze-rush is very much alive.

Three NI judokas will fight for bronze in this evening's session as they seek to add to the two won by Yasmin Javadian and Nathon Burns yesterday.

Joshua Green was the last to claim his place in the medal match with a golden score repechage win over Sri Lanka's Chamara Repiyallage.

That game was interrupted by the most almighty of roars over on mat two as England's Gemma Howell booked her place in the final of the women's -63kg by stylishly dispatching of Australian Katharina Haecker by ippon.

'That was quick'published at 12:14 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Women's 800m qualifying

Scotland's Laura Muir spoke to BBC Sport's Jeanette Kwakye after finishing second in the women's 800m heat, qualifying for Sunday's final.

    "That was quick wasn't it!

"The women's 800m is so fast right now but it's nice to be back in the 800m and to run that little bit quicker."

On the quick turnaround from the World Championships, she said: "It's been tough but I was lucky enough to be at the start of the programme at the World Champs.

"I feel good, I've tried to be sensible and I'm just happy to be here really."

Reekie clipped in closing stagespublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Women's 800m qualifying

    Richard Winton
BBC Sport Scotland at Alexander Stadium

Jemma Reekie won't be in Saturday's final. The Scot was clipped with 150m to go and just could not muster enough in the closing strides to claim an automatic final place, and her time won't be quick enough for a fastest loser spot.

We're hearing she might choose to lodge an appeal but the more likely outcome will be that she now takes up an option to contest the 1500m.

Hodgkinson through but Reekie outpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Women's 800m qualifying

Keely Hodgkinson safely makes it through to the women's 800m final as she takes the win in the third and final heat, finishing in two minutes 0.18 seconds.

But Jemma Reekie is just run out of a qualification place in the final straight.

Australian Catriona Bisset comes through to make the final after Reekie was clipped from behind as the athletes came into the final 100 metres.

It means England's Alex Bell joins Hodgkinson and Laura Muir in Saturday's final.
