The first morning session at Birmingham 2022 has come to an end as the men's discuss qualification is wrapped up.

England's Lawrence Okoye's throw of 63.79m places him third overall in qualifying and second in Group B, behind Australia's Matthew Denny (64.63m).

Scotland's Nicholas Percy (60.68m) is also through from a Group A won by Jamaica's Traves Smikle (64.90m), as is Jersey's Zane Duquemin (58.87m).

The final takes place on Thursday.

    Men's vault final

    Matt Baker
    Gymnastics commentator on BBC TV

That will put him into the lead without any doubt and probably give him his fourth gold of the games!

People will think now how on earth will I top that.

    He makes it look effortless!

    The execution was simply phenomenal.

    Surely he can't be beaten?

Jarman moves into gold positionpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Men's vault final

Oh my goodness, Jake Jarman didn't just maintain it, he topped it and then some.

Attempting one of the most difficult vaults possible, with more twists than a Dan Brown novel, Jarman scores a whopping 15.200 for that vault.

That's the highest score of these Games! And his average of 14.916 puts him top of the standings with four competitors to go.

A fourth gold for Jarman on the way? It will take something special to beat him.

    Men's vault final

    Huge vaulting!

It's not too big of a deduction on such a difficult vault, so he has the margin of error on the others.

    Men's vault final

A half-stumble on landing from Jake Jarman. The first vault scores 14.633 due to the level of difficulty.

He will be in the gold medal position if he maintains that sort of score...

    South Africa 76-1 (Target 168) v England

England think they have another wicket as Taznim Brits is pinned lbw.

But she calls for a review and after much deliberation it looks like she got her bat to the ball first. Overturned and South Africa are still just one wicket down.

But they do need more than 10 runs per over to win.

    Beth Tweddle
London 2012 bronze medallist on BBC TV

I've seen Jake Jarman since he was younger and I've seen a real difference in him in this Games.

He's always had the tricks but at this competition he's really cleaned his routines up and that's when you start winning medals.

Mixed bag for McAteerpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Men's vault final

A mixed bag for Northern Ireland's Ewan McAteer. A fine first vault is followed by a very tough springboard double-front somersault and he stumbles forward badly on landing before regaining his composure.

A score of 13.750 puts him above Emil Barber - but the first vault was 14.200. The second one has likely cost him a medal chance.

Barber stumblespublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Men's vault final

Oh, a disappointing start for Emil Barber as the Welshman attempts a very difficult vault with three rotations and cannot nail the landing, stumbling back and sitting down before recovering.

It's the same with the second vault, again a tricky one with two-and-a-half twists and he again lands on his backside.

The disappointment is written all over his face. His score is 13.033, the average of his two vaults.

Arena Birmingham isn't even full yet as people continue to file in but England's Jake Jarman and Giarnni Regini-Moran are still given goosebump-inducing cheers as they're introduced to the crowd.

They're competing for vault gold, with Jarman already having all-around, floor and team gold in the bag on his Commonwealths debut.

Regini-Moran was in the team that won gold too and claimed floor bronze earlier in the Games.
