Big news from the England cricket camp...

Captain Heather Knight has been ruled out of the Commonwealth Games and The Hundred because of a hip injury.

Knight missed her side's opening two matches in Birmingham after suffering the injury in an IT20 match against South Africa.

It was hoped she would recover to play in the Games, but it has failed to settle down as expected and Knight will continue to receive treatment.

Nat Sciver will remain England’s captain in the Commonwealth Games and a replacement player cannot be called up.

Nine other athletes have their eyes on the bling, including Samoa's Feagaiga Stowers and Australia's Charisma Amoe-Tarrant.

Those two won gold and silver, respectively, in the 90kg event on the Gold Coast

So far, we've seen Malta's Elisia Scicluna, Fiji's Helen Anastasia Seipua and Sri Lanka's Thimali Wiyannalage ease through their opening snatch lifts.

England's Emily Campbell is among the favourites to win Commonwealth Games gold after an incredible couple of years.

At the beginning of 2021 barely anyone had heard of her.

    Now they have.

That's because she has two European golds, a world championship bronze and became the first British woman to win an Olympic medal in weightlifting when she won silver in Tokyo.

    Quite the CV.

It's a busy afternoon in boxing and Carly McNaul of Northern Ireland is guaranteed at least a bronze after beating Keshani Hansika of Sri Lanka 5-0 in her women's light-flyweight quarter-final.

Scotland's Reese Lynch also has a medal in the bag thanks to his win over Jonas Junias Jonas of Namibia in the men's light-welterweight category.

Still to come we have England's Kerry Davis (pictured) in women's middleweight quarter-final action, England's Lewis Richardson fights Billy le Poullain of Guernsey in the men's event, with Scotland's Sam Hickey also in action in the same division.

There could be more glory for Scotland too as Sean Lazzerini is one fight from a medal in the men's light-heavyweight category.
