We have a new leader in the scrap for bronze!

Samoa's Kuinini Juanita Mechteld Manumua goes up three kilos to 128kg and, after a stumble and stagger like someone who's had a few points on an empty stomach, completes the lift.

Her support team jump around as though House of Pain is blaring out of the PA system.

Time for some more hockey now!

Wales face Ghana at the University of Birmingham Hockey Centre, who are currently bottom of Pool B.

The home nation head into the match as favourites - but can they get a win under their belts after their 4-2 defeat to England on Sunday?

Canada's Emma Frieson moves into the lead with a combined total of 228kg.

For context, England's Emily Campbell lifted 124kg in the snatch and is down to tackle another 155kg in the clean and jerk.

Samoa's Feagaiga Stowers lifted 117kg and is lining up 150kg.

Seemingly it is a two-horse race for gold, with the rest battling it out for bronze.

A close second to the incredible athletes at the weightlifting are the heroic loaders.

They scurry on to the stage quick as a flash, put whatever weight needs to be added to the bar and sprint off again.

Like Wimbledon ball kids, but faster.

Today's the day of the singles finals at the squash, and first up, we've got England's Sarah-Jane Perry taking on Joelle King of New Zealand for the women's singles bronze medal.

Four years ago in Australia, this was the gold medal final, with King winning on that occasion - as she has in four of their last five meetings.

World number six Perry is from Birmingham, so let's hope the home crowd can spur her on.

    Para-lawn bowls women's pairs B6-B8

Another day, another gold for Scotland in the bowls?

After Garry Brown and Kevin Wallace ensured 'Flower of Scotland' was belted out in Leamington Spa in the Para-lawn bowls men's pairs B6-B8 yesterday, it's Scotland's ladies who are going for gold at Victoria Park.

Rosemary Lenton and Pauline Wilson have made a strong start and it's currently 5-2 after seven ends against Australia's Cheryl Lindfield and Serena Bonnell.

By the way, Dumfries pensioner Lenton is one of the oldest competitors in Commonwealth Games history. She turns 73 a couple of weeks after making her Games debut, and only took up the sport as a hobby after she retired.

Proof that you are never too old to do something new.

England's Emily Campbell is chilling in the warm-up area as the clean and jerk starts.

Headphones are back on. MOP's 'Cold as Ice' would be an apt choice of tune.

The Olympic silver medallist was clinical in the snatch.

Back on the mat, Malta's Elisia Scicluna has three successful lifts to land 105kg and move to a total of 185kg.

Sri Lanka's Thimali Wiyannalage currently leads the way on a total of 199kg.

Sensible boxing from Sean Lazzerini in the final round, it's a clever performance there. He is in there against a switch hitter who is very skilful but Lazzerini got his nose in front early on and boxed smart.

NI suffer heavy defeat to Ugandapublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 3 August 2022

    Uganda 63-26 Northern Ireland

Uganda's clinical passing and attack was too much for Northern Ireland, as they were defeated 63-26 at the NEC.

The African side dominated from the opening quarter and their high defensive press meant the home nation had less than 63% accuracy on the ball.

Northern Ireland have one remaining match in their pool against Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.

It's a brilliant gold for England's Evie Richards!

It was silver in 2018. She has struggled with a back problem this year, and had her preparations further disrupted by coronavirus.

But the world champion is now also a Commonwealth Games gold medallist - by some distance.

The 25-year-old controlled the race from the start and, one scare aside, she has dominated this race.

If anyone came in here not knowing who Emily Campbell is, they know now.

As well as the supreme lifting, she's giving the fans plenty of personality.

She is feeding off the adrenaline of the crowd and giving them a big dose of it back with her huge celebrations.

Second time lucky for Samoa's Feagaiga Stowers. Sensational recovery to lift 121kg and match Emily Campbell's weight.

The roar tells us the 28-year-old from Nottingham is heading back out... 124kg on the bar.

She has lifted 125kg in training. What's a kilo, eh?

Campbell makes hoisting a weight equivalent of a fur seal over her head look like a bag of crisps.

Sensational stuff. Three successful attempts in the snatch means she goes into the clean and jerk in pole position.

Australia's Zoe Cuthbert is giving it her all now as she makes a last attempt to try and stay clear of Candice Lill and secure the silver medal.

Cuthbert was hanging on earlier, but she's paced this perfection.

Evie Richards is out of sight, though.

She's about half a lap away from delivering gold for England.

Another boxing medal secured for Scotlandpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 3 August 2022

    Men's middleweight quarter-finals

And that's a second boxing bronze confirmed for Scotland after Sam Hickey beat Adeyinka Benson of Nigeria. The 22-year-old Dundonian won European bronze earlier this year and is just two bouts away from claiming Commonwealth Games gold.

Hickey won both of the opening two rounds on all five judges' scorecards, then piled on the pressure with Benson taking two standing counts in the third before the referee waved the fight off.

It will be Scotland v England in the semi-final as Hickey will take on Lewis Richardson.
