Scotland's Rosemary Lenton was crowned as the Commonwealth Games' oldest medallist, at the sprightly age of 72, but her reign is going to be short lived.

Wales' skip Gordon Llewellyn and Scotland's lead director George Miller - both aged 75 - will face off in the gold medal match.

Age is no barrier, folks. Amazing stories!

A first attempt is given a red strike for Uganda's Denis Mbaziira, but it's not the athlete's fault the 160kg lift is deemed not good enough.

Mbaziira's coach is told to get out of the way by the centre referee as rules state he should be clear of the para-lifter when the attempt is made.

The coach doesn't seem to have a clue what is going on and fumbles around until he's at a safe distance.

Not the best start for Mbaziira.

Bahamas' Laquan Nairn will be the toast of an island nation thousands of miles away. He has beaten the second-best long jumper in the world this year in India's Sreeshanker on countback. That doesn't matter - the history books will say the gold medal winner is Laquan Nairn.

They win a penalty in the defensive third and once the ball gets to the other end Eleanor Cardwell - playing at her first Commonwealth Games - slots it home to chants of England from the crowd.

Every single shooter on the court has missed a shot in these first seven minutes. Nerves because of how frantic the crowd is here?

Thankfully most of the 10,892 crowd have gone home otherwise they'd be there all night.

There were chants of "Ohhh Liam McGarry," for the home favourite. His family and friends are here wearing t-shirts bearing his name.

Scotland's flagbearer Micky Yule also goes in this final.

I said they were done for the night. I'm a fool. There is still the 400m to go before the decathlon field can fold their weary selves into bed.

Grenada's Lindon Victor is top of the overall pops with 3462 points. Cedric Dubler of Australia is going to have to run a heck of a lap to depose him. Dubler is on 3328 points.

England form a circle in the middle of the court and take a knee as New Zealand wait to get going.

• English diver Jack Laugher wins his third successive gold in 1m springboard final, with team-mate Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, 17 winning the women's 10m platform on her Games debut.
• Northern Ireland are guaranteed to equal their all-time medal haul at a Commonwealth Games after boxer Amy Broadhurst clinched at least a bronze.
• England's Zoe Newson took women's lightweight powerlifting gold, as compatriot Olivia Broome won silver
• Fred Wright and Anna Henderson won road cycling time trial silver for England, as Wales' Geraint Thomas took bronze in the men's event following a crash
• Welsh identical twins Ioan and Garan Croft both secured boxing medals

At the netball, teams are introduced one by one onto the court - it's very fun.

New Zealand take on an arrowhead formation under the spotlight and all have their hands on their hips. If they're trying to look intimidating, it's worked.

Defending champions England step out next and the noise is honestly a bit painful. Loudest I've heard this NEC Arena crowd so far.

It is tighter than piano wire at the top of the long jump standings.

Bahamas' Laquan Nairn leads with a best of 8.08m, with India's Sreeshankar Sreeshankar, so good they named him twice, having jumped the same, but in silver on countback.

South Africa's Jovan van Vuuren is third on 8.06m and Jamaica's Shawn-D Thompson is fourth on 8.05m

Just three centimetres between the top four with one jump to go...

Five minutes until we get going in the netball- the tunes are loud and the Mexican wave is going strong.

The big news on England's teamsheet is Commonwealth debutant Eleanor Cardwell starting at goal shooter.

She will partner goal attack Helen Housby, with the more experienced Jo Harten playing earlier games with heavy strapping on her knee.

In fact, Harten has been moving a bit gingerly in the warm-up. England won't want to be without her big-game skills in the semi-finals.

Birmingham-born Stacey Francis-Bayman starts at wing defence in what she says is her final tournament before retirement.

New Zealand are missing some big names - star shooter Ameliaranne Ekanasio failed to meet the fitness standard on return from having her second child before these Games.

Traves Smikle of Jamaica won silver four years ago – he’ll hope to see the rest of the field in his rear-view mirror this time.

Matthew Denny of Australia and Samoan Alex Rose are likely to mount a challenge.

It’s a Commonwealth Games debut for England’s Lawrence Okoye, a decade after he set a national record and reached the Olympic final before quitting athletics to join NFL team San Francisco 49ers. He gets a big cheer from the stands.

British champion Nick Percy goes for Scotland and Zane Duquemin for Jersey.

Anticipation for England's netball match at the NEC Arena is HIGH.

These three - Freya, Darcy and Ruby - were some of the many fans flagging up pre-match. Caught them outside painting St George's crosses on their face.

There are flags all over the place in here and the flashing wristbands that have done the rounds at other events in Birmingham have made the trip to the NEC to add to the pop concert vibes.

Even England's warm-up gets huge cheers from the crowd. Gold medal-winning former England coach Tracey Neville comes up on the big screen and the volume goes up another notch.

Scotland's Sammi Kinghorn on her bronze-medal winning performance: "I came fifth in Glasgow as an 18-year-old, fourth in Gold Coast and now third so I am improving year on year.

"1500m is not my event. I just tried to kick and obviously burned out a little bit in the home strait and got caught but a medal for Scotland - it's a dream come true.

"This crowd!. Most of them are probably English but they are absolutely getting behind the home nations.

"When I started accelerating down that back strait I could hear the crowd getting louder and louder and I thought 'come oooonnn, let's do this'.

"Hopefully I have done all my friends and family as proud as I can.

"I love this, I genuinely love this."

Commonwealth champion Folashade Oluwafemiayo takes the applause of the Birmingham crowd inside the NEC as the medals are handed out.

The Nigerian lifted 152.5kg in Tbilisi in December to take the gold in the 86kg division at the World Championships. It was her fourth world record in 2021 and came four months after she won gold at the Paralympics with a lift of 152kg in Tokyo.

Incredible.

Oluwafemiayo finished with a points haul of 123.4, silver medallist Omolayo collected 115.2 and Watson of Australia ended the competition on 98.5.

This is by far England's hardest match at the netball so far.

The defending champions have claimed four comfortable wins, but New Zealand have too.

This one has big semi-final implications, but to be fair neither opponent in the knockout stage is that appetising.

The winner of this will face Australia next. They have never failed to make a Commonwealth final.

The loser plays Jamaica, who are the form side and claimed a first win against Australia at a major tournament this morning.
