Kenya's Hellen Kariuki does a little dance on the bench as she lifts 98kg to overtake England's Zoe Newson with a score of 98.5.

But Newson is straight out next and immediately nails 99kg to take top spot again on 100.2 - a score which takes into account the weight lifted and her body weight.

Newson is a two-time Paralymoic bronze medallist and took Commonwealth bronze on the Gold Coast in 2018.

She thought she was going to have to give up powerlifting after the last Commonwealths because she became pregnant with her son Duncan.

But around four months after giving birth to Duncan she was back in training and here she is.

Newson's England team-mate Olivia Broome lifts 109kg and remains in bronze medal position on 98.2.

Andrea Spendolini Sirieix scores 72 for a final score of 360.20 and she's quite literally jumping for joy as she gets out the pool and rightly so - it's been a very impressive preliminary from the English diver.

Lois Toulson gets her highest score of the preliminaries with 75.20 to qualify second.

Scotland's Gemma McArthur finishes her qualification off with an inward 3 1/2 somersaults tuck - her worst score so far but she'll be encouraged by the opening four.

Lucy Hawkins makes the final on her Commonwealth debut for Wales.

England's Eden Cheng pulls it out the bag with a score of 72 for her final dive to secure a final spot after heading into the final round of qualification in 11th.

Northern Ireland's Tanya Watson scores a solid 68.80 to secure a spot in the final.

Canada's Renee Batalla and New Zealand's Mikali Dawson miss out on tonight's final.

The NEC Commonwealth life is a good one.

The sun is (mostly) shining and you can lounge by the lake watching the action on the big screen.

Earlier in the netball, we witnessed a superb game between Jamaica and Australia, with Jamaica earning a stunning 57-55 victory over the top seeds to finish top of Pool A.

Here are the highlights from that one.

And that is that over at the NEC.

Northern Ireland take their first win of the Games, a 41-32 victory over Trinidad and Tobago, who finish their group stage campaign without a win.

It was a tight game in Pool B but crucial interceptions from experienced players Caroline O'Hanlon and Fi Toner proved vital to Northern Ireland's victory.

They will now await the results of the rest of the day's games to find out which play-off match they will be involved in tomorrow.

Next up, Malawi take on Uganda.

Scotland's Melissa Coutts and Lynne Beattie have lost both of their matches so far, but beat the Solomon Islands in straight sets and they could go through to the knockout phase as one of two best third-ranked teams.

Together, Coutts and Beattie have a combined age of 87, with Coutts being 51 years old.

The Scotland hockey team are here watching and supporting their compatriots, armed with plenty of Saltires. They're now giving a rousing rendition of Flower of Scotland.

Fred Wright posted the fastest time in the final section of the 37.4km course.

Yes, gold medallist Rohan Dennis lost time to the 23-year-old, who he beat by 26 seconds.

A superb ride earns him silver and backs up a super impressive showing at the Tour de France.

Scotland's John Archibald finishes in sixth, with Welshman Owain Doull in seventh and Northern Ireland's Darren Rafferty in eighth.

England's Dan Bigham recovered from his crash to come home in 12th, ahead of Scot Mark Stewart in 14th.

She lifted 98kg and, taking into account her body weight, that gives her a score of 98.2.

Compatriot Olivia Broome steps out next and successfully lifts 106kg which gives her a score of 94.6 to put her third.

Kenya's Hellen Wawira Kariuki is second with a score of 96.5.

Nigeria’s Onyinyechi Mark and Latifat Tijani had a good chance of gold here but were both disqualified before the event began.

Geraint Thomas went down early, recovered well, but he just couldn't eat into Rohan Dennis' advantage.

He appeared to have a problem with his bike midway through as a result of that incident, and gave it everything in his sprint for the line.

But he ended up two seconds down on Fred Wright, who also enjoyed an excellent Tour de France campaign.

There were several crashes, with England's Dan Bigham suffering a nasty collision into a barrier too.

He is in red-hot, tremendous form. Very sharp indeed from Williams. Lavalou on the receiving end of some really heavy punches.

England's Lewis Williams only needed 96 seconds to win his heavyweight quarter-final to move into the semi-finals and ensure at least a bronze medal.

Wales' Garan Croft found the eye-catchers in the last round that impressed the judges.

A good performance, indeed. I think the accuracy and certainly the eye-catching shots have come from the Welshman in this contest against a really tricky and determined southpaw who carried a bit of pop in his shots also.

He turned it around and goes through. Well done Garan Croft.
