Aidan Walsh wins their third boxing gold, and fifth overall, with what must be said was a fairly routine win.
He has upgraded that silver from four years ago, and it's another major medal to his collection.
A wonderful accomplished fighter at 25. Something of a young veteran, well done that man.

It was a wonderful move from Geraint Thomas - it was all or nothing, gold or nothing at all. You have to take your hat off to him to show that kind of bravery.

Geraint Thomas went for it in that final kilometre. he gave it everything, but he was caught and in the end the track speed of Aaron Gate proved the difference.
Northern Ireland's Matthew Teggart finished fourth, England's Fred Wright was fifth and Ben Turner was seventh, while Thomas crossed the line seventh.

The English team had the numbers to pull Geraint Thomas back, but Plapp gave Gate all the space and time in the world to do what he needed.

Australia continue to threaten as forward Great Hayes twists and turns inside the d. But Fiona Crackles stays low and is able to pinch the ball off the end of her stick. Great defending from the England player.

Walsh's success in the previous rounds came on the back foot, where his elusive switch-hitting frustrated and bamboozled his opponent.
Tiago Osorio Muxanga is doing the smart thing initially by effectively refusing Walsh's invitation to come onto the front foot.
Then he gets frustrated and does come forward. Jackpot, thinks Walsh.
He picks off his man with a big right hand that sends the Mozambique fighter to the floor. 5-0 round for Walsh.
