There is a LOT of red and white in the massive 5,000-seater stand opposite me on the other side of the pitch.

There is a fair bit of Aussie support too. Lots of yellow and green wigs and yep, that's an inflatable kangaroo.

    A superb atmosphere building here.

There is a lot of looking round now. I think it [attacking] might start sooner rather than later. Just got that sense of everybody starting to pay attention, there is a tension starting to come back into the group. Their thoughts are coming back to: "How can we win this race?" Less than 50km to go now - just over one hour remaining.

Scenes of jubilation from New Zealand. They missed out on a medal four years ago on the Gold Coast and saw it as a disaster, this is a huge achievement for them.

For England, it's huge disappointment as they couldn't deliver a medal on home soil. They look, understandably, heartbroken.

Maddie Hinch saved every one of New Zealand's penalty shootouts in the semi-final.

This is becoming a bit of a habit for Hinch. She saved all of the Netherlands' shootout efforts in the 2016 Olympic final too.

I'm pretty sure England hockey's pre-match meal probably wasn't pizza. But, if it was, I can absolutely guarantee there would be no pineapple and ham.

    Well, that is that.

A lovely touch at the end as Eboni Usoro-Brown comes on for the final 30 seconds to make her last appearance in a Roses dress. She will retire after today. That is also the final game Stacey Francis-Bayman will play.

The Roses look absolutely gutted but they just couldn't bounce back from yesterday and New Zealand were the better side on the day.

Oh wow, 'anything you can do we can do better' is the message from New Zealand's defenders. They win the turnover in the defensive third and they are just simply holding onto the ball and keeping their cool.

The clock is not on the Roses' side, it's too late.

    Men's bantamweight final

    Michael Morrow
BBC Sport NI at The NEC

Dylan Eagleson is next up for NI against heavy-handed Ghanaian Abraham Mensah, who takes the first round on a 4-1 split.

Eagleson has proved himself to be an elusive, back-foot presence with the ability to get under the skin of his opponent in these Games, but in that first round could not avoid Mensah's big right hands with any regularity.

He has it all to do here.

I didn't think this would happen for a while. I thought the attacking wouldn't happen for a little bit longer. The lead group perhaps sensing the chasers are getting closer. That certainly has people concentrated now.

Team England have certainly been impressed by the atmosphere generated by the spectators.

England have seven and a bit minutes to claw it back, and they trail by seven goals. Is it still on?
