Louise Christie claims Scotland's 36th medal of Birmingham 2022, meaning just another nine are needed for their biggest haul at a foreign Games.

She's done it!

Louise Christie was up fourth and took top spot with 27.550 and had to watch four other gymnasts compete to find out whether she had secured a first medal for Scotland in rhythmic gymnastics since 1994.

Superb stuff from the 27-year-old.

Malaysia's Joe Ee Ng took gold while Canada's Carmel Kallemaa got bronze.

England's Marfa Ekimova and Alice Leaper finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

England's Joseph Ellis has extended his advantage at the top of the men's hammer standings.

A third throw of 71.19m ensures he remains in the gold medal spot, with Canada's Ethan Katzberg his current closest challenger on 70.11m.

A confident start from Northern Ireland in the men's fours final as they win the first three ends to move into an early 6-0 lead on rink one.

Remember though, India beat England in yesterday's semi-final with the very last bowl to overturn a two-point deficit, so count them out at your peril.

Meanwhile just a few rinks down, Wales have taken a 2-0 lead against England in the bronze medal match.

Northern Ireland's Gary Kelly trails Malaysia's Fairul Izwan Abd Muin 7-5 in the men's singles semi-final while Iain McLean of Scotland is right up against it versus Australian Aaron Wilson, who leads 15-2 after seven ends.

England are also through to Sunday's women’s 4x100m relay final.

The quartet of Asha Philip, Imani Lansiquot, Bianca Williams and Ashleigh Nelson clock 42.72 seconds to finish behind Nigeria, while Australia take the final automatic spot.

A caught and bowled and a run-out off successive balls in the final over from Katherine Brunt, but it's a big target for England to chase if they are to keep alive their hopes of winning gold on Sunday.

Jemimah Rodrigues finishes with 44 not out from 31 balls to build on Smriti Mandhana's brilliant 61 at the top of the order.

After a commanding victory over New Zealand on Thursday, England's batters have a tough task on their hands here.

Jack Laugher was talking to BBC Sport after qualifying for the men's 3m springboard final:

“I got a bit of a knee tremble on the board, I was a bit nervous, and basically just doubted myself a little bit too much.

“When you do the twist dive you’ve got to release the legs into the twist, and I had passed that point of being able to do that and just did a different dive.

“Once you’ve failed your first dive, emotion plays into it a lot and you start wanting it a bit too much.

“I think when emotion is tied to it, it makes my diving very up and down so I’m going to go reset, have a sleep and come back later and give it my best.

On his chances for the final:

“I think I’m the favourite, that’s very obvious after my performances in previous Commonwealth Games and in worlds as well.

“I think when you have that expectation on you from yourself, from a crowd of people as well, it can be very difficult.

“Staying at the top is really hard, and obviously I want the third gold medal.

“Maybe I’m just putting too much pressure on myself and I need to just enjoy it again and just relax.”

He's followed by Canada's Adam Keenen and Welshman Osian Jones, who managed 68.88m with his first attempt.

We have lots of squash action coming up today.

England's James Willstrop and Declan James kick us off in the men's doubles quarter-finals as they face Australian pair Cameron Pilley and Rhys Dowling.

In the evening session, England's Alison Waters and Adrian Waller and Scotland duo Greg Lobban and Rory Stewart both take on Australian teams in the mixed doubles quarter-finals.

Waller is back in action alongside Daryl Selby in the last match of the night in the men's doubles quarter-finals against Canada.

Well, that certainly was a belter of a routine by Louise Christie (see 12:07 BST). Part Scottish trad music, part Insomnia, part Sister Bliss...

She's the first Scottish woman to be in a rhythmic apparatus final since 1994 and she's thrust herself into medal contention with the best score yet. Mon the rhythmic gymastics!

Jamaica take heat one in 43.66 seconds from India.

And it's Scotland who safely clinch the final automatic qualification spot!

Scotland's Sam Hickey is in to the men's middleweight finals after the referee stops his contest with England's Lewis Richardson.

Hickey has now bettered the bronze he won at the 2017 Youth Commonwealth Games.

While Richardson wins bronze for England.

Over to the women’s 4x100m relay heats now on the track.

Scotland are up in heat one, competing in the event for the first time since 1986.

Jamaica are also in this heat, with England to come in heat two.

Here comes Marfa Ekimova of England, who made history yesterday when she won gold in the all-around final - the first gold medal that England have ever won in the sport.

Her routine in this individual final was not as sharp as what we have seen but this is now the third day of competition and there were a few errors creeping in there - she scores 25.700.

England's Alice Leaper is up next and then we will have Scotland's Louise Christie. All to play for.

Mark Dry didn't think he'd be here, in Birmingham. There where times he thought he'd never throw the hammer again.

The 34-year-old served a 28-month suspension for lying about his whereabouts after he missed a drugs test in October 2018. It was an ugly mess, with various appeal and counter appeal involved. The Scot was scunnered.

But the chance of adding a third Commonwealth medal to his Glasgow and Gold Coast bronzes was too much to ignore. Even if he's spent the last few years "on the tools" as a scaffolder, rather than as a full-time athlete.

"There's no real pressure because I've already won by coming back," he told BBC Sport Scotland. "But I'll give it the berries out there and see what happens…"
