    David Corkhill
Former international lawn and indoor bowler

Sadly is is too late to see tactics now. All Kelly can do is to get a few marks on the card to make it respectable.

He has a silver medal - which is still very respectable but I do have the feeling that the pressure does release whenever you are this far back, and you just chill.

Wilson (Aus) 18-1 Kelly (NI) after end 12.

Williams skulks around the middle of the ring for most of the first round, with Coumi spending as much time near the rope as a boundary fielder at Edgbaston.

First round goes to the Englishman on the judges' cards.

I've been at the diving pool for about 40 minutes and I spotted First Dates star Fred Sirieix really soon after arriving.

His daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix goes in the women's synchronised 3m platform final with Eden Cheng later and Fred was one of the first members of the crowd to arrive. He's switched between watching in the stands and taking photos, to shouting advice to Andrea from the fence while she warms up.

    Men's light middleweight semi-finals

    Ronald McIntosh

Tiago Muxanga is now one win away from emulating the athletics icon Maria Mutola and claiming Commonwealth Games gold for Mozambique. This man looks to be a good contender for gold with the way he is boxing.

Normal service resumed as three sumptuous bowls in a row yields a three-shot end for Wilson, which he swiftly backs up with another points in the 11th.

Two standing counts for Tanzania's Kassim Mbundwike in the final round as Mozambique's Tiago Muxanga goes to town.

Mbundwike makes it to the end of the bout, but that's only going to be a small win for him.

Muxanga goes through with an unanimous decision and faces Northern Ireland's Aiden Walsh for gold.

Pickard misses out on bronzepublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 6 August 2022

    Women's singles class 6-8

So unlucky from Felicity Pickard. She was 4-0 down in that game and bounced back to take a temporary lead, but the bronze goes to Nigeria's Faith Obazuaye.

Pickard really used the home crowd to her advantage, fist bumping as the audience cheered her back into the game - but Obazuaye wanted to get the job done and she did that with a smash before Pickard shot into the net on match point.

Next up for the home nations it's England's Jack Hunter-Spivey going for gold in the men's class 3-5 event from 19:00 BST.

Scant relief amid the onslaught, but Northern Ireland's Gary Kelly is off the mark in the men's singles finals with a wonderful final bowl to take the end.

12-1 after nine means it is Aaron Wilson who remains totally and utterly in control, but Kelly will hope this is a catalyst.

It will be the 2018 silver medallists facing the defending champions Australia in the gold medal match on Sunday.

But England’s Bello twins still have a chance to create history if they can beat Rwanda and claim a bronze medal which would be a first in this sport at a Commonwealth Games.

Oh no. Just like that Felicity Pickard is 2-1 down - she lost that third game 11-6 to Gold Coast silver-medallist Faith Obazuaye.

It's best of five so Pickard needs to take this game to stay within reach.

There are a number of her England team-mates cheering on from the crowd and she's going to need to dig deep here.

    Sensational consistency from the Australian.

Meanwhile Scotland's Iain McLean is enjoying a similar display of dominance in his bronze medal match, where he has a 10-1 lead over Fairul Izwan Abd Muin of Malaysia.

Good ring craft from Northern Ireland's Aidan Walsh.

A classic case of getting your nose in front in that first round and then getting your opponent to come chase you.

A very frustrating day for Wales' Garan Croft, but you have to take your hat off to Walsh. He is experienced and got through to the final at a canter.

The 25-year-old from Northern Ireland reaches the Commonwealth final for the second successive Games, with an assured performance in a split-decision win over Wales' Garan Croft.

Four years ago, Walsh had to settle for silver. Can he learn from that experience and go one better tomorrow?
