Here's a recap of what's happened so far on day nine at Birmingham 2022:

• England's hopes of a second successive Commonwealth Games netball title have been ended as Australia won 51-60 to set up a final meeting with Jamaica;
• England's Nick Miller successfully defended his men's hammer title;
• Scotland's world champion Jake Wightman had to settle for bronze as Australia's Oliver Hoare charged through in the final few metres to claim a sensational 1500m gold;
• England duo Amy Pharaoh and Sophie Tolchard claimed silver after losing a thrilling final to Australia in the lawn bowls women's pairs;
• Gemma Frizelle won an historic gold in the rhythmic gymnastics hoop final for Wales;
• Louise Christie claimed Scotland's 36th medal by earning silver in the women's ribbon final;
• English diver Jack Laugher scraped through to the 3m springboard final;
• England’s Demie-Jade Resztan, Kiaran MacDonald, Wales' Rosie Eccles, Scotland's Sam Hickey and Sean Lazzerin, and Taylor Bevan of Wales will all fight for boxing gold medals.

The good times continue for the Bello twins with two errors from Canada's Daniel Dearing seeing England go up by four.

Beers and ice creams are the order of the day at Smithfield which has been turned into a beach volleyball venue.

The locals are calling it Costa del Brum and who doesn’t love a beach on such a hot and sunny day.

Could do with a bit of a sea breeze though!

The crowd are cheering every England point very loudly but there are a few groans every time Canada get on the scoreboard.

The contest was won in the first two rounds, especially in that second round, when Northern Ireland's Amy Broadhurst went to another level. A very positive, dominant display from her against a potentially tricky opponent. She will be difficult to beat.

Let's hear from Australian captain Liz Watson, talking to BBC Sport:

"I'm really really proud. We were disappointed with our match against Jamaica and England is one of the best teams in the world.

"We wanted to get that one so badly. We really tried to complement the strengths of our team.

"We can look back at that game [against Jamaica] and they are team that plays with belief and passion, and we need to cut that down.

"We like to play with flair and freedom."

This is Northern Ireland's Amy Broadhurst to lose - and no way she's going to switch off here.

Broadhurst continues on the front foot and lands shots, with Nigeria's Cynthia Ogunsemilore tiring quickly.

All over! Broadhurst knows she has done enough and the world champion will fight England's Gemma Richardson for the gold medal.

The unanimous decision is confirmed.

They face Canada's Sam Schachter, who won silver in 2018, and Daniel Dearing with Australia pair Chris McHugh and Paul Burnett waiting in the final.

The Aussies remember the pain they felt at home and for them to put England out at home - it will be huge for them.

England just didn't manage to pull it together.

They could not solve Gretel Bueta. They had no answer to her.

England have never reached the final of the beach volleyball but the Bello twins are aiming to change that today.

Joaquin and Javier said by beating Gambia in the quarters, they had got over their hoodoo team after losing to them on many occasions.

It won't get any easier as they're up against Canada and Sam Schachter who won the silver medal in the Gold Coast in 2018.

The sun's beating down at Smithfield and defending champions Australia have already booked their place in Sunday's gold medal after beating Rwanda 2-0.

So many were hoping that England could do it like the Lionesses last Sunday.

They felt the heartbreak of not being able to go for gold at the World Cup in 2019 and they will feel the heartbreak of not being able to defend their title.

It wasn't to be for England today.

Australia had a healthy lead going into that final 15 minutes and were happy to just pass the ball around. Revenge at last for the Diamonds.

The defending champions have been beaten and Australia will go for gold tomorrow against Jamaica.

Let's find out who England's Gemma Richardson will meet for gold, shall we?

It could be Northern Ireland's Amy Broadhurst, although Cynthia Ogunsemilore of Nigeria will have something to say about that.

Could be a cracker this.

Broadhurst recently won gold at the world championships and is good mates with Katie Taylor, helping the legendary Irish fighter prepare for her showdown with Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden by being her sparring partner.

It's suddenly gone very quiet at the NEC.

Australia have sucked the life out of this England side and out of the crowd. It's very much looking like another final for the Diamonds, they have never missed one.

That is what happens when things are going your way - the ball just lands in your hands.

Australia are happy to just pass the ball around and do the basics well. The Diamonds have played this so well - Gretel Bueta has caused so many problems in the circle that it's easy to forget she is partnered with Steph Wood who just keeps her cool under pressure and does the business while England are distracted by Bueta.

There is a bit of a lack of composure here from England.

Coming into this bout England's Gemma Paige Richardson would not be the favourite for this against India's Jaismine, so that is a great win and a terrific performance. Her tactics were plain and simple, to rough her up from the inside. A cracking display overall.
