Sunday is the busiest day of Birmingham 2022 with an incredible 45 gold medals up for grabs.

The men's cycling road race features Olympic and Tour de France superstars Geraint Thomas for Wales and Mark Cavendish for the Isle of Man.

On the athletics track Eilish McColgan is set to feature for Scotland in the women's 5,000m, with team-mate Laura Muir in the women's 1500m.

Athletics: Women's 100m hurdles, 400m, javelin, 4x100m relay, long jump, 1500m, 5,000m and 4x400m relay, men's triple jump, 400m, 10km race walk, 4x100m relay, javelin, 800m and 4x400m relay.

Diving: Women's 3m springboard, men's 10m platform

Road cycling: Women's and men's road race

Squash: Mixed doubles

Table tennis: Women's singles, men's doubles and classes 8-10 singles, mixed doubles.

There are also 16 gold medals to be won in the boxing, as well as gold medal matches in beach volleyball, cricket, hockey and netball.

No-one ever said watching sport was easy. Here are some of the biggest highs - and lows - on another emotional day in Birmingham.

• Kenya's Mary Moraa beat England's Keely Hodgkinson and Scotland's Laura Muir to take gold in the women's 800m.
• Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah won women's 200m gold while England's Zharnel Hughes claimed silver in men's event;
• England's hopes of a second successive Commonwealth Games netball title were ended as Australia won 51-60 to set up a final meeting with Jamaica
• England's Nick Miller successfully defended his men's hammer title;
• Scotland's world champion Jake Wightman had to settle for bronze in the 1500m;
• England duo Amy Pharaoh and Sophie Tolchard claimed silver after losing a thrilling final to Australia in the lawn bowls women's pairs
• Gemma Frizelle won an historic gold in the rhythmic gymnastics hoop final for Wales;
• Louise Christie claimed Scotland's 36th medal by earning silver in the women's ribbon final
• English diver Dan Goodfellow won gold to lead an all-England top three in the men's 3m springboard final;
• Eden Cheng and Andrea Spendolini- Sirieix win silver in the women's synchronised 10m platform final, with England team-mates Robyn Birch and Emily Martin taking bronze;
• England lost out to India in the semi-final of the cricket and will play New Zealand in Sunday's bronze medal match. Australia will take on India.

What a day that was.

England's Adrian Waller made it two wins on the night after securing a spot in the men's doubles semi-finals to add to the mixed doubles final place he won earlier in the night.

Waller and Darryl Selby came from a game down to win 2-1 against Canada's Nick Sachvie and David Baillargeon, 10-11 11-5 11-8.

The victory set up a semi-final against Scotland's Greg Lobban and Rory Stewart, which will be played on Sunday.

Waller will also partner Alison Waters in the mixed doubles final on Sunday against New Zealand's Paul Coll and Joelle King.

Another day, another medal for Elaine Thompson-Herah.

She might not be at her best just yet, but she was dominant in Birmingham tonight.

England's Zharnel Hughes, speaking to BBC One after winning silver in the men's 200m final:

"I really enjoyed myself. You saw the celebration at the end of it.

"This is my first 200m of the season so to come away with a medal, I'm really happy with it. Onto the Euros next."

What a game - on every single level. England decided the way to fight fire is with fire. The scoreline doesn't tell the whole story - it was just a battle from minute one. It was fabulous to watch.

The only thing I would criticise England for has been their penalty corners - which have been awful. They have had 13 missed opportunities from penalty corners. There is no variety.

It's all over! Australia have edged past England after a titanic tussle to reach the final, where they will face India for the gold medal.

The England players look devastated, they gave it absolutely everything.

They will now face South Africa for bronze.

Australia are happy to stretch England - they have got that scoreboard comfort. But England are going at this. They are giving it everything they have got.

England are giving this a real go. They are now playing without a goalkeeper as Oliver Payne is replaced by Liam Ansell.

After finishing fourth on the Gold Coast in 2018, Adam Hague walks away with a silver medal.

Harry Coppell has one last shot at clearing 5.65m, and misses.

He'll take bronze - and it's still on for the gold medal, with Australia's Kurtis Marschall leading England's Adam Hague in the closing stages.

England are pushing for a late equaliser here in front of an increasingly raucous crowd.

They win three penalty corners in quick succession. The third of which sees Nicholas Bandurak's effort cleared off the line by Flynn Ogilvie.

Seven minutes left. Australia hanging on.

The lanes don't really matter for Elaine. She has great technique, great speed - although I did not expect her to separate from the field that much.

Kudos to her for coming here, not being in the best shape, but not being afraid to compete and putting it all on the line.
