Maddie Hinch: "They were incredible. It's hard to describe the difference these guys make for us. In those really tight games, they give you that extra energy in your legs - and the extra stretch for me to make a save!

"We have to believe. We our the ones with the home crowd. We have to use that to our advantage."

On making the final on home soil:

Hannah Martin: "It's amazing. Our goal was to make that final and our goal is gold. We're going to go out there and give it everything we have got and for me, it's my first major final and I'm absolutely over the moon to be there."

Can anyone stop Jamaica's Shanieka Ricketts winning gold? If they do, it is likely they will have landed one heck of a jump.

Ricketts won world silver in the recent World Championships, following up a fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics last year.

Her mark of 14.98m is the second-longest jump of the year behind Venezuela's Olympic champion Yulimar Rojas, with the nearest seasonal best in the 13-woman field coming from Jamaican team-mate Kimberly Williams.

Reigning Commonwealth champion Williams, who has jumped 14.29m this year, and Dominican Republic's 2018 bronze medallist Thea LaFond (14.56 SB) are expected to challenge.

What about the home nations' hopes? Only England's Naomi Metzger will feature and the six-time British outdoor champion has a season's best of 14.14m.

Georgina Kennedy couldn't repeat her golden touch from the women's singles as her and Lucy Turmel were beaten in the women's doubles quarter-finals this evening.

In the mixed doubles Alison Waters and Adrian Waller are in action for England against Tesni Evans and Joel Makin of Wales, while Greg Lobban and Lisa Aitken of Scotland are hoping to see off the Australians.

Confirmed: Scotland's Beth Dobbin will race in tomorrow's final!

Dobbin clocks 23.28 to qualify as one of the two fastest outside of the top two in each semi-final.

Two of England's stars, goalkeeper Maddie Hinch and shootout scorer Hannah Martin, have been speaking to BBC Sport after their thrilling semi-final victory against defending champions New Zealand.

Here's what the pair had to say:

Maddie Hinch: "I really enjoyedthat! I said to these guys it's really important in these moments to lap it up and make the most of it and for keepers, it's the chance to do your part.

"I did doubt the result for a second but I was like, Mads, this is the stuff you dream of and for the young kids we're playing in front of, we had to go out there and do our thing and if it didn't work out, it didn't work out.

"I was really grateful these guys brought some goals out. For Hannah to step up and do that, it was immense."

Hannah Martin: "You just have to put things to the back of your head and go through your processes. I knew what I was going to do and you just have to go in and have full confidence that you are going to put it in the back of the net."

As expected, Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah is far too good for the rest.

The Olympic champion whizzes around in 22.63 seconds and is safely through to the final.

Canada's Natasha McDonald finishes second with Scotland's Beth Dobbin close behind in third.

Dobbin dips for the line and that extra second could prove vital if she is going to qualify as a fastest loser.

Back on the track and it is the last of our women's 200m semi-finals.

The star attraction here is Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah, who is the double Olympic sprint champion. (As if you don't know!)

Thompson-Herah is going for another double in Birmingham after winning her first individual Commonwealth title in the 100m.

On her inside is Beth Dobbin. She was born in Doncaster but represents Scotland as that's where her father Jim - a former footballer - is from.

It's another super busy night of badminton action over at the NEC where the men and women are at round of 16 level in both singles and doubles.

Kirsty Gilmour is through for Scotland after beating Jessica Li of the Isle of Man while Rachael Darragh of Northern Ireland is also through.

England's mixed doubles pair of Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith saw off their Ugandan challengers while Scotland also went through in the safe hands of Adam Hall and Julie MacPherson.

England's Harry Kendall is loving being the centre of attention at Alexander Stadium.

Kendall launches a heck of a throw in the javelin, setting a new PB with an effort which lands just short of the 60m mark.

He bounces around the track like a rock-n-roll frontman, lapping up the adulation.

That puts Kendall into third for the javelin, but it's not going to move him into medal contention overall.

The heavy favourite in the second semi-final is 19-year-old Christine Mboma, who became Namibia's first-ever female Olympic athletics medallist last year.

She missed the World Championships because of injury but eased through her heat in 23.20 secs.

What has she got in the locker here?

A comfortable win in a time of 22.93 seconds, thanks to a decent streak away from Australia's Ella Connolly in the final 50m.

Matty Lee on the inspiration provided by the Birmingham crowd after winning gold: "This is what I do diving for. This is why I have achieved what I have. It is just competing. Especially in front of a home crowd. You don't get better than this.

"You don't get a chance to do this very often. We are so lucky to be able to do it - I mean that wasn't luck out there, that was pure skill - but we are lucky to get a gold in front of a home crowd. I'm ecstatic."

As well as the track action, eyes are also being diverted to the field.

The decathlon competition at Alexander Stadium is lacking big names but is set for a thrilling end.

Australia's Cedric Dubler, 27, holds a 39-point lead over Grenada's defending champion Lindon Victor after three events earlier today.

That means it is all down to the javelin and 1,500m tonight.

The action on the track continues with women’s 200m semi-finals.

England's Noah Williams on dealing with injury during his gold-medal winning performance: "After the second dive both me and Matty [Lee] had pretty bad cramp. It just got worse and worse to I think the third or fourth dive when I pretty much couldn't walk.

"I had to get some electrolytes in, I had a massage between each dive. It's still bad now. I think it was the adrenaline. The crowd was really loud, which is not something in diving that is common."
