It's been a tough game, shots have been hard to come by.

You expect that though in a gold medal match between quality pairs. The whole idea is not to give away threes and fours, or your opposition will scamper away from you.

Scotland lead 5-4 against Wales after end seven.

Scotland earned a largely comfortable victory over Northern Ireland in the play-off for ninth place. Northern Ireland made too many mistakes and Scotland were only too happy to punish them.

Scotland have matched their result from the Gold Coast games in 2018 by finishing ninth while Northern Ireland will be disappointed with 10th after finishing in eighth four years ago.

Next up Wales take on Malawi in the play-off for seventh place.

    Women's 1500m heats

    BBC Sport

Scotland's Jemma Reekie told BBC Sport:

"I'm not making it easy for myself am I? I knew I had to be a wee bit quicker and that's why I was cagey but at the finish it was just a bar of girls in front of me but that's just tactics I'll get better in the final.

"But I'm in the final and I'll go out and give it my best shot.

"It was just about getting out today after the other day - I was really disappointed but I'm in that final now.

"It's quite an open final. I really want to go out there and aim for those medals. I'm not in the 800m start list but I'm going to go out there do what I would if I was on that start line."

England's Katie Snowden said: "The aim of the heat is to just finish top five as comfortably as possible and I feel like I did that so looking forward to Sunday."

Team Wales have started strongly, though. This could get tense. There's a strong wind about too, making it tricky for the players.

    Women's 1500m heats

    BBC Sport

Laura Muir told BBC Sport: "I had to do as little as possible but really it is still a really good field so just keep myself in that five place contention - I did what I could just to qualify as smoothly as possible and save energy for tomorrow."

On her packed schedule: "I do better when I move. I'm really bad sitting around, I tighten up so it's really good for me to move. Ideally you wouldn't have a round the day before but it's nice to get the legs moving."

And on running in the 800m as well: "I've not done an outdoor 800m since 2013 so it's been a long time but I thought this is an amazing opportunity to do the two and I gave it my all and doing it in a Scottish vest of course."

But the Scottish pair look strong too. This gold medal match is going to go the distance.
